kouyate red - Rescinded *Updated*
Never a red for me but if it does stand is it 1 or 3 match ban ?

West Ham United can confirm that a Football Association Regulatory Commission has upheld the Club’s claim for wrongful dismissal in respect of the red card shown to Cheikhou Kouyate at Blackburn Rovers.

The No8 was sent-off during the second half of the Hammers’ 5-1 Emirates FA Cup fifth-round win over the Championship side at Ewood Park, but the Club’s successful claim means Kouyate’s one-match suspension is withdrawn.

The Senegal midfielder is therefore eligible to play against Sunderland in the Barclays Premier League on Saturday.

You also forgot that there was no contact.

Re: kouyate red
"Whether the foul was accidental or not has absolutely NO BEARING on whether or not it was a sending off" - you're absolutely correct, angry chap.

But it's ridiculous that that's the rule.

Whether the foul was accidental or not has absolutely NO BEARING on whether or not it was a sending off. The player wasn't sent off for the severity of the foul but because he denied a goal scoring opportunity. It was overturned because the Blackburn player couldn't trap a bag of cement and the ball was not under control, so it wasn't a goalscoring opportunity. If the player had kept control of the ball then the red card would have probably stood, unless they clearly proved there was no contact at all (which I don't believe to be the case).

I can 100% see why the ref gave it at the time

Just glad it didn't cost us

Personally, I think for both this one and Noble at Anfield, the ref played the crowd reaction, where in both cases they were already down to ten.

In refs defence I can see what it was given. It's in these instances where the lino needs to help him out, as he has a better angle to see tat the player had lost control and that it was accidental.

From behind, the ref might have thought he'd flicked his legs to stop him.

Then again, that ref is always a useless wanker.

Maybe they were just agreeing with the ref! That'lll learn 'em.

Good, if obvious, decision by the panel.

Hard to believe some on here thought it was a definite red.

Re: kouyate red
Takashi Mike ~Isn't Hackett (Sheffield) still in charge of referees now? (Which might explain why most of the refereeing is so poor these days)

If so, I doubt he'd rescind his own card!

I think Moss made a genuine error. I saw the incident & watched the clips countless times & still can't see any actual contact by Kouyate

I thought there was definite slight contact at the time (though not enough for a red)

It is difficult for referees sometimes. I definitely think they should be wired up (like rugby referees) to explain their decisions live

It might even be worth considering 2 referees (one in each half) & 4 assistants, with the pace of the game these days, they don't always seem to be able to keep up!

Re: kouyate red
i doubt it happens but id love the referees to be spoken to when an appeal is successful. I know we were always going to win comfortably but on another day a decision like that could have put us out. just not good enough, with too many mistakes every weekend

I wonder if Hackett's fuck up in the semi final would have been rescinded if it happened now

Well done FA panel...

Ref should hsve given a Yellow at most...

Player had no control of the ball...and no clear chance on goal...

Correct decision...

Re: kouyate red
Ref couldn't wait to pull out the red and even things up having sent off the Blackburn player earlier. He didn't give a fuck whether it was the right decision or not.

Glad common sense prevailed in the end.

Fuck me, a post AND a text, penners?

Yeah, I thought it was a nailed on red. So did the ref. We've had a result and he's not banned, and you've cracked a boner in the process.

Happy days all round.

Common sense rarely prevails so I'm pretty pleased about this. Will score at the weekend nailed on.
