Interesting. Along with Samuelson that's 2 highly rated young strikers hopefully knocking on the door at some point.

Don't see much hope for the boy Lee, lol.

DS exclusive: Martinez will join Irons
Posted by Sean Whetstone on March 31, 2016 in News, Whispers

Chairman David Sullivan has confirmed exclusively to ClaretandHugh that Valencia wonder kid Toni Martinez is on his way to the club.

Despite denials last night on social media, David told us a few minutes ago: ” Yes, I can confirm he will sign in the next 7 days.

“There is a large fee if the player is success and a small one of he’s not. He’s one for the future. Hopefully he can be on the fringes of the first team within a year.”

Slaven Bilic poured cold water over social media reports from last night that the player wasn’t on the Hammers radar in his morning press conference ahead of the Crystal Palace match.

ClaretandHugh had reported last night that Spanish radio station – Radio Taronja – claimed we were on the the verge of signing the highly-rated youngster, who has notched over 100 goals for the Mestalla youth side over the last four seasons.

Then came the denials on Twitter before Slaven Bilic said in his morning press conference that negotiations were ongoing for the 18 year old.
He said: ” “We are quite close to capturing Toni Martinez [of Valencia]. All other rumours in the paper are just speculation.”
Soon afterwards ClaretandHugh received confirmation from DS despite the story being roundly rubbished on Twitter last night
CandH had repeated reports from Spain last night claiming the Hammers will pay an initial 1 million Euros which could rise to 3 million Euros on certain performance factors which now corresponds closely to what we have been told.
Martinez has starred in Valencia’s youth teams for the past few years, scoring over 100 goals in four seasons, but it is said he has grown tired over his lack of first-team opportunities. The contract is thought to include a sell on clause.

Re: Toni Martinez
according to this it's a 1st option and 20% sell on

So not a buy back clause

http://sportwitness.ning.com/forum/topics/west-ham-transfer-agreed-it-s-best-for-both-parties-says-source-1

A few days ago, once again, the Spanish media raised the issue of young talented players in the country signing for Premier League clubs, due to money, and it seems the number keeps on increasing.

According to Spanish newspaper Marca, West Ham have agreed to sign Toni Martinez from Valencia in a deal which starts off with an initial offering of over €1m.

The player has apparently signed a four year contract, but Valencia have the first refusal option and will also pocket 20% of any possible future sale.

Valencia believe Martinez is still some years from becoming a first team striker, and selling him for a substantial offer right now seemed to be the right decision to them.

The deal is believed to have been completed yesterday in presence of officials from both clubs, agents, and lawyers. A source close to the deal confirmed: "It's the best for both parties."

Valencia based website Super Deporte also confirmed the same, and reported both the clubs could make an official announcement soon.

The player also confirmed that negotiations have taken place, while leaving the training ground yesterday.

Martinez said: "They are negotiating and the truth is that I know little of the negotiations."

The forward trained with the youth side yesterday, but is expected to become a West Ham player soon.

Re: Toni Martinez
no they set the price on the buy back. usually at a fairly low figure -

Barce have one of 6.3m on Delefeu

"Everton will be powerless to prevent Gerard Deulofeu re-signing for Barcelona next summer should the European champions activate a €9m (£6.3m) buy-back clause, Roberto Martínez has confirmed."

Of course that is unlikely to eer get used as barca want a beter player

Re: Toni Martinez
Buy back options are pointless.

If a player doesn't want to sign for a club he can't be made to. If he wants to, he will with or without that clause

Romfordboy 12:04 Wed Mar 30
Re: Toni Martinez
Surely the buy back clause will be you have first dibs.... They aren't even in the top 30 money league!!!

It would be like barca buying Oxford and us Demanding a buy back
