So you want all games, after the 4th round, played midweek?

The biggest problem for the FA cup has been Europe by the way.

More clubs in the champions league/Europa...so more fixtures.

In the old days it was all quite straight forward because less sides were involved.

It's now affected everyone. Fixture congestions, date changes, TV deals etc...potentially the biggest loser is the little man...so they can protect the big clubs from all the chaos.

Even though the championship has 24 sides nobody gave a fuck if they had replays...then Liverpool and Man Utd moan because they're in the Europa and everyone else is now affected.

Well there's that financial element for the away side...

But I meant the home team will always have an advantage of holding in front of their fans.

If you were to rule out replays in the QF's I'd rather see it played at a neutral ground with a 50-50 split

I don't see why the semi's is at Wembley neither. Should be ad hoc. If two northern sides got to the semi's I think it's a piss take to make them go down to London.

I like the old school neutral venue.

Good point, the away team wouldn't be able to sit back for a replay anymore.

Might make for more open games, although part of the romance of the cup is the little team holding on to take the big club back to theirs.

Great news for any club who gets a home draw in the QF's

Bad news for any club who is drawn away in the QF's

They could have a tickle with an underage prozzie whilst the wife thinks they're watching the football though Trundle, so it's swings and roundabouts I think.

That's a fair point, I didn't really think of that.

They probably don't want the ball ache of getting up at 3am to watch the replay, with work the following day.

I'm pretty sure that would be a major factor for the OVERSEAers.

Re: Quarter Final replays scrapped
I didn't say you wanted more games on the box. I just thought many of our overseas supporters would like to see more games on the box.

How did we ever manage back in the day when we played 42 league games and endless cup replays?

All this to accommodate the rich kids in their European playground. The FA are cunts.

I mean sort it out on the day, FA Cup hasn't moved to week days...yet.

We saw this year that QF replays were a major pain in the bum, nothing wrong with sorting it out on the day instead, don't see th problem in that instead of waiting a month to find out if you're going to Wembley or not.And if I wanted more games on the box then surely I'd be in favour of keeping this replay.

I don't really get the first 2 lines, so I'll ignore them.

Well I'm sure managers, players and owners want loads of different things than supporters. I don't get the relevance there?

Oooh that's way too much to think through OM, son, and I thought EDGY was your word anyway. Maybe I'm trying to challenge you as the most contrarion poster on here right now.

But seriosuly, I think at the QF stage the vast MAJORITY of owners, managers players, and fans want to get it sorted out on the night, but of course disagree, WHO style..

Why not just scrap the FA cup altogether as it's such an inconvenience and may occasionally clash with a highly important Champions League group match.

PD - Are you saying it's, and it's that word again 'EDGY', to want to keep replays which is something that's been part of the domestic game for years, but it's also 'EDGY' to want to vote to leave the EU?

I think you're losing your head fella.

Just a quick look on here it seems that people actively going want to keep them, and overseas lot want them scrapped. I would have thought the more WHU games on the box the better?

For what it's worth I totally agreed with getting rid of replays for Finals and semi finals. Logistically I think it's better. I don't agree with this at all though.

There were at least 23 replays.

I clearly remember Cottee was on crutches with little skis on them by the time he broke the deadlock in the snow with the ORANGE BALL.
