England’s (Current) best International players, who are they?
Terry Butcher has been banging on about NOT worrying too much about picking players on "Current form" for major tournaments but rather picking them by how 'successful' they have been for England in the past.

So Who does that leave us with?

Rooney perhaps????? our record goal scorer! although after looking up his record its not so great..........

Of his 52 England goals over the last 12/13 years he has managed only 1 at a world Cup and 5 at European championships, 4 of which were in 2004, 12 fucking years ago, his best tally is against San Marino, destroyed those cunts with 6 goals over the years, has a good record against the mighty Andorrans as well! Then of the big European nations, he has NEVER scored against Germany, Spain or Italy, but has managed a single goal against both France and Holland, and most of his goals have been in friendlies..........take them away and the penalty's and its not such a fine statistic.

Do we actually have any successful internationals?

Could have been a team of 10 Rooneys in 2004, and Greece still would have won it!

he's been living off 2004 for a 12 effing years

scouse bald twat

I;ve always defended Roy but his big team bias this time has pissed me off.

Our whole tournament relies on 22 year old Eric Dier with 7 caps. The last 3 tournaments we got a footballing lesson off other teams midfields. Cant see this one being any different

Rooney was exceptional in 2004 , if he had not got injured England may well have won the thing.
He is a decent player but not anywhere near that level since.

Of the current team I'd rank Hart (although he has his moments) , Alli & Kane as good or potentially good internationals.
The rest are no world beaters and certainly not irreplaceable

Well done OP for details on Rooney...

Always had the same opinion on Rooney's goalscoring record...

The way the last two managers have set the team out at tournaments, I'm not that surprised that we've been lacking in goals in the striking departments.

Praying Roy realises what a cunt he was at the last tournament and gives us a chance to attack and create some chances, which has been severely lacking with the usual safety first midfields.

Think Kane and Alli could be great players and Hart is decent.

I agree about Rooney.

Aside from 2004, he's been found severely wanting when it counts the most in tournaments.

Banging them in against tiny nations in qualifying is one thing, but it's against the top tier sides where world class players should prove themselves. He simply never has, after 2004.

Best and rightful candidate for captain is on holiday now, taking some well earned deep breaths in preparation to lead his club out at a new stadium next season.

I think Redknap is one of the few possible England managers who might agree and select him as captain.

Well hopefully by the time the tournament has finished we will have a good few successful international player, but for my money currently its debatable if we have any, until I looked up Rooney’s record I didn’t realise how dross it was once you look at who he has his goals against??? And there is very little quality sides he has goals against, especially if there were not friendlies.

Re: England’s (Current) best International players, who are they?
There's a definite difference between 'best' and 'most successful'.

Internationally, none of them at all have been successful. Donestically, a fair few have, but that's not necessarily a reflection on them as most of their team mates are not England players.

Our best players are probably Hart, Kane and Alli. Maybe WIlshere if his body doesn't fall apart. At a pinch, Sturridge and Rooney.

Everyone's going very OTT on Rashford who in the grand scheme of things has barely proved a thing.
