London independence / devolution
So once Scotland and Wales have left the UK, and there is a united Ireland, we will be left with a left-leaning London subsidising the Tory shires. I think this is just the start of the unravelling of the UK.

An English civil war again but with social media and keyboards replacing the muskets :-)

Most rude indeed, mind you Pickle has been pretty generous with baseless accusations recently

Zeb

Hammer and Pickle keeps accusing me of being a fenian/IRA sympathiser. I consider it rude.

Spot on.
My ex wife is an Irish prod and gets very angry indeed if people assume she has anything whatsoever to do with the Orange loons.

I can assure you that majority of people in the Irish Republic do not want a united Ireland.

The north is a basket case, full of criminal gangs, violence and hatred. The Republic is a peaceful place where everyone gets on well.

My relatives in Dublin shudder at the thought that someone would try to foist Ulster on them. They're quite happy to leave it to the English to sort out.

It's clearly 'mockneys' who want independence.

London independence is a step too far, and there are plenty of geographically implausible political entities in history, my favourite being the kingdom of York and Dublin.

Make London the capital of independent Scotland.

It would instantly resolve the centuries long rivalry between Glasgow and Edinburgh for a start.

Can't believe there is a petition calling on Sadiq Khan to "declare london an independant state"

And they are calling Brexiters stupid and thick.

Me and my Missus voted differently. I have moved to the shed and have imposed border checks at the gravel pathway.

Does that mean if london leaves the uk then the boroughs that voted to leave the eu would then leave London

I think they should make a huge cut outside the M25 all the way round and leave the rest of the country to sink

I think the "Pregnant woman can piss in a policeman's helmet (IN, not ON) if she's caught short in public" law is still on the books.

London is only where it is through TRADE, not politics. Most convenient port becomes a self-supporting growth area.

If tasked with finding the best place for the UK's capital today, London - or anywhere in the South-East - wouldn't get on the list.

Gazza for PM. He sorted the Roal Moat issue with a can of lager, some chicken and a fishing rod, so why not put him in charge of industrial policy?

London was granted certain rights and exemptions at the time of the Norman Conquest. I'm sure they're still on the books somewhere.
