Having watched Stoke, Watford and Southampton in the last couple of days, I think they're going to be very decent again this season. It'll be a real scrap to be ahead of them in the table.

Very important to get started tomorrow against Bournemouth.

a and b voters are currently being carted off to their local mental health institutions for investigation. Even the c and d pessimists are reviewing their position in a downward direction.

The WHO Poll on the left needs to allow a second vote. There will be a large swing towards options C, D and E methinks. 1 week in and we are down to bare bones. Even me, the most pessimistic fan, did not think the injuries, lack of fitness, form could be this bad.

Re: Next Season's Prediction..
Beginning to think we may struggle this season, injury's and Europa fixtures may see us off to a poor start in the league, need a win against Bournemouth as i dont think we will get a look in at City.

If the Bournemouth games goes badly going to be interesting to see what Bilic does in the Europa..............................hope we dont see that towel again!

Hope we win all 3, but im changing my prediction from mid to top half finish to mid to bottom half, but above the relegation fight.

What Hermit says.

Will 100% depend on what happens in transfer market between now & the close of it.

Is Payet going to go & or hand in a transfer request & unsettle everything further or is he going to be 100% committed ?

Is Bilic going to carry on with the madness of playing Antonio at RB & ignore the defensive set up of the team & concede 2 goals a game ?

What I do know is that as of today we have a squad in very poor shape in all senses of the word.

Decent reasoning, but I think I dispute your ratings there.

It's hard to come up with a perfect way of measuring squads, but among the imperfect ones I think tmkt's squad values are reasonably fair (ie they're hideously inaccurate but average out across the board).

http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jumplist/startseite/wettbewerb/GB1

Although we're 8th in that table, it's worth noting that we're actually closer to Palace in 12th than we are to Everton in 7th in terms of squad value.

Worth noting that Liverpool and Spurs, who you rate around the same as us, tmkt rates at more than double the value of our squad! That's an absolutely massive difference, and I think speaks to the reality of the situation.

Re: Next Season's Prediction..
Hard to make predictions till the squad is sorted. Right now we look in poor shape with glaring gaps in key positions. Sort out a striker and two full backs, and we should fit in with Coffee's groupings. Go into the season without those and we would definitely be in the last group.

Re: Next Season's Prediction..
Teams probably better than us:

Arsenal
Man U
Man C
Chelsea

Teams same or slightly better:

Liverpool
Spurs
Leicester (hesitant return to status quo, but could fit in any of these categories)

Teams same or slightly worse:

Everton
Southampton
Stoke

So it's a battle for fifth. Disastrous season would see us 11th.

Same as every season, blood vessels will be burst with rage after every goal conceded, every loss and any decision that the manager makes that doesn't come off.

Every game we win, we will be world beaters who should be winning the league and our manager is the best around.

HTH

8th or higher btw.

Re: Next Season's Prediction..
Haven't a clue what to expect this season - wouldn't be surprised if we start in a very up and down way like last season. Depends largely on who we bring in during the remainder of the window. I think we're probably one of the most unpredictable sides in the prem.

Bit of a catch 22 question, take out the top 6 and many of the rest are about The same,
and it all comes down to who plays well on the day,
we struggled against some supposed poorer teams last season and we beat some
of the better teams,
I donít think we will be as fortunate as to win some of the bigger games this term,
and if we continue To struggle as we seem to against the supposed poorer teams,
plus extra games we could be in a bit of trouble, but I hope not.

We'll finish 6th, which along with a good cup run and a trip to Wembley will be very satisfactory.

"The playing field has levelled out with so much cash lolling around"

Loads keep saying this, and I don't believe it's all that true. All PL clubs are just paying MORE money. The best players will still want to go to the established "top" / glamour teams. And don't pretend you don't know who they are. Even those who've recently won fuck all.

7th.
