Re: Prince dead
First got into Prince Buster at the age of 8 when my sister bought Big Five. She wasn't allowed to play it in front of our parents due to the lyrics so it became 'our little secret' in a music way.

In 79 Madness sang One Step Beyond and told us about the earthquake erupting in Orange St, the Soecials advised that there was no need to argue with Bernie Rhodes and so began one of the most important record label launches in my lifetime

Today the Prince joined the person who introduced me to him

RIP Sis RIP Prince

Re: Prince dead
Prince didn't call himself Prince, it's what his parents named him.
Prince is not a stage name, it's his real name.

Re: Prince dead
"Earl" is even common in certain white circles.

(Four of the first five Earls in Wiki's list are white - the other is Japanese-Hawaiian)

For the purist that may be grammatically incorrect. But I know what I mean.

Re: Prince dead
Yes. One is a verb. The other is a noun. I am a noun with no pretentions of being a verb.

But there's one thing being a Prince and another thing calling oneself prince.

Its like there's one thing being a mentor and another thing calling oneself mentor

Re: Prince dead
Not much idea about Jamaican culture have ya mentor. Calling ya self after nobility is a bit of a tradition in music circles. There's various Dukes, Kings, Counts etc.
