West Ham in for Fabregas in Jan
Oh fuck, is it really that bad? Just what we need, a wobbly show pony midfielder to shore up our defensive play

Plus we've been offered a freebie that didn't do enough to get his 6 month contract at Bologna renewed.

I somehow missed the deluge of posts making that point on here during the window.

Get Coric in to replace Noble.

Exactly! A proper holding midfielder should have been near the top of the list in the summer
I would assume Nordtveit was earmarked for that position, but despite his good form in the Bundesliga, he has looked & played like a free transfer
With Kouyate & Noble both suffering from major loss of form, we are looking very lightweight in that position
Let's hope Fernandes can do the business

I think you could look at it as 'player worth' rather than 'sell-on fee'. His worth is realistically pretty unlikely to go up at this stage.

Apart from anything else, the bloke is a humongous cunt with a long history of being a humongous cunt against us. No ta.

As an attack minded central midfielder he's better than what we have already, although Lanzini isn't far off and given his age I wouldn't want him in ahead of him. If anything we need a proper holding midfielder which should be our main January buy.

No. I'm out!

I no there are no quotes but why can't we sort out what we have already before thinking about bringing in anyone else. Of course he is quality player but we have quality midfielders. Sort out the current team and then we can think about this.

We need defenders, a striker worthy of the name and a midfielder with a bit of pace and bite to his game.
Fabregas isn't any of those

Sorry didn't explain that properly. I meant he is a very good player and would be an improvement to the squad.

But at the moment you look and wonder how he would fit in. If we move players on then different.

JANUARY SHOULD BE ALL ABOUT DEFENDERS NOTHING ELSE.

Re: West Ham in for Fabregas in Jan
Age again the major issue. At 29 he should be well on the decline physically in a league that I think is skewing younger each season. For six months maybe, but as a long-term option there's just no future in it.

OK Charoo but you did post 4 minutes after me and it was only 2 sentences long. Was it so unreasonable for me to think you were making that critical comment to me?

Good player but another midfielder who does not do the defensive side of the game. Replace one of the existing midfielders with him for sure (Noble?) but we still need a decent sitting midfielder too if Obiang and Nordveit are either not going to feature or not up to it.
