Wouldn't we all, sadly there is more chance of Corbyn becoming prime minister.

...and of course the more nuclear power plants there are the more chance statistically that one will go pop a la Chernobyl or the one in Japan. How do you count that cost?

Re: Corbyn - I want to see a nuclear free world
I think we'd all like a nuclear free world but the reality is it's never going to happen. Like trying to un-invent gunpowder

The first person to put their gun down will get shot at

As far as nuclear energy is concerned, it's quite incredible how many people believe it's clean, safe & economical

They never write the true costs into the financial equation. Decommissioning, maintenance & monitoring hazardous waste (properly) costs a fortune

Not only that, but they haven't got a clue with what to do with the tons (yes tons!) of nuclear waste we already have, which is sent to the UK from all over the world

Of course, all these countries reliant on nuclear power will want to continue to trade with UK post Brexit, as they haven't anywhere else to send their nuclear shit

They certainly don't want it in their own countries!

He gets seen as a lunatic because he behaves like one.

TWe:

Anyone who wants to change the status quo gets treated as a lunatic. I'm on the side of the loonies myself.

Re: Corbyn - I want to see a nuclear free world
Personally i am not sure how much of a deyerrent they are in the face of the the threats we face in todays world. However Corbyn is totaly wrong on this. He keeps going on about his democratic mandate etc but its Labour policy to have a nuclear deterrent as voted for by conference. He should stop trying to undermine that. Silly fucker is shooting us in the foot yet again.

To those people who think that the UK adopting a policy of one sided nuclear disarmament, will somehow encourage other states to follow suit, are deluding themselves.

Back in the 1950's the UK gave up offensive biological and chemical weapons.* Haven't actually noticed other countries following suit, with chemical weapons being used by various states.

Russia has an immense stockpile of chemical weapons.

* The UK has a facility at Porton Down where antidotes and treatments are developed (defensive measures).

Weren't you one of the posters who ridiculed claims that the EU were building an army?

I wouldn't put it past the EU to do anything to be honest.

Re: Corbyn - I want to see a nuclear free world
I forgot about the possibility of the EU invading the UK.

*makes spaz face*

Fair points Scum, but my point was directed more towards Darby and people who insist on making out that things like nuclear weapons and even armed forces are pointless these days cos we all live in some happy peaceful world and have no enemies etc.

Re: Corbyn - I want to see a nuclear free world
It was never thought Saddam had nuclear weapons, it was that he had long range missiles or WMD (chemical)

Iraq did have WMD's from its war with Iran and still to this day its impossible to know where they all went, but some were found.

Re: Corbyn - I want to see a nuclear free world
Here's some food for thought; if Saddam and co really did have nukes, does anyone really think they'd have been invaded so easily?

mashed in maryland 12:34 Wed Sep 28
Re: Corbyn - I want to see a nuclear free world
Plus LOL @ thinking "being invaded" is the be all and end all.

Grumpster 12:32 Wed Sep 28
Re: Corbyn - I want to see a nuclear free world
Could understand the nuclear argument if they were ever used, but they're not, as they are purely there to put off countries with aspirations of invading and so they work.

The likes of Russia and China would have probably tried to invade countless other countries if there weren't nukes about and loons like North Korea would be a nightmare I'm sure.

Re: Corbyn - I want to see a nuclear free world
Yeah I mean its not like we have a huge continent-sized neighbour who have been after are sovereignty and now have their own army in the works is it.

Oh.

WHOicidal is a ringer for a young Corbyn.
Both fucked Diane Abbot as well.

So who's going to invade if the UK doesn't have nukes?
