He's gonna have to throw it then..
Man City in the cup with some of the most winnable, crucial games of the season.. no manager in their right mind given our pathetically weak squad and injury record this season woukd field a strong sude, woukd they?

No win situation for Slaven then. Field the promising kids, oxford, fletcher, quina with a mix of first teamers & he's throwing it. Play the piss poor 2nd stringers, Nordveit, Torre, Fangoooli, lets hope Zaza aint here still and he's also throwing it. Play a decent team, we'll ger beat, chsnce of injuries and fatigued (poor lambs).

For that reason I'd go with those fringe players who have a chance of a career at West Ham, mixed with youth. Not much fecking luck with cup draws these days ffs!!

Strongest team v Man City reserves. Lovely.

I don't think Bilic has a choice.

He MUST field out strongest side and go for the win. Do that and get beat then there is no criticism and then the same players have to get up for the next league game.

Play a weakened side and lose then you create pressure on yourself to win the next PL game. Lose it and could get sacked.

No brainer for me.

Unlike the Liverpool match, we don't have another match midweek straight afterwards. So we should play our first team and go to win.

Like to see Martinez given a chance.

He'll play his strongest team. No fixture congestion around then no reason to.

End of thread......

Deliberately weakening your chances of progressing in the greatest domestic cup competition in the world to stay in a league we will NEVER win??

No thanks.

Kouyate, feghouli, ayew and possibly sakho will likely to be off to the ACON straight after this so they can all play

What is needed is a bit of confidence about the team.

Capitulating gets to be a habit. Get them out there against City and go for it.

If City win it and we make them work for it, we can say that we stretched one of the best sides in England.

If City don't have to get out of second gear to beat us, all you can say is we don't deserve to be in the same division as them.

If City don't win, I can't see a downside. At worst, we'll have to do it again.

I long for the day the negative mindset at West Ham and the fuckers more interested in leaving 10 mins b4 half time for a PIE will somehow change.

It's not a game squeezed amongst a number of important league games. It's the cup with it's own date free. Put out the strongest team. Why the hell not?

Or perhaps we could try having a go, winning the game and building some confidence?

Do any fans actually want to win anything these days....we start every season in 3 comps, 2 we`ve actually got half a chance of winning, but fans these days seem to be happy with mid table mediocrity year after year in the premier league....I couldnt give a shit if we went down, I enjoyed the seasons in the championship

How about try to win the game instead of ruining even more players confidence?

Chin up lads. We beat the league leaders at home in the shit cup. That was a cracking performance. We'll be on a run by then and we'll win this.

Fucking pointless playing a decent team. Fringe players should have a go. This is about survival - but knowing Billic he'll play our best team

Go for the cup, throw the league!
