Don't Worry.. Sulli is about to open his transfer "War Tin"
Latest from our chairman... as he opens up the petit cash tin for January...

Sounds like we might have heard this before ? Suggests that the gaps will be caused by AFCON? Err... what about right back, central midfield and strikers? They are existing gaps aren't they? Am I fearing that Slav and owners still do not see the problems?

Here is what he said....

“We are also getting closer to the start of the transfer window, when we hope to bring in some quality reinforcements to further strengthen the squad,” said Sullivan. “We are aware that there are some gaps to be filled, particularly with the African Cup of Nations starting in January, and you can be sure we will be working morning, noon and night to bring in the right players to help push us further up the standing”, he added.

West Ham send begging letter to Premier League's 'big five' in frantic search for January reinforcements

By Matt Law, Football News Correspondent
21 December 2016 • 9:00pm

West Ham United have sent a begging letter to the Premier League’s top clubs ahead of the January transfer window as part of their desperate bid to boost their squad.

The Hammers have made specific enquiries over Michy Batshuayi, Daniel Sturridge, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial as they try to land a striker on loan, but have also made a more general plea to the leading clubs.

West Ham have sent letters out to Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Arsenal and Manchester United asking whether they have any strikers, full-backs or central defenders they would be prepared to loan out in the January window.

Other than Batshuayi, Sturridge, Rashford and Martial, West Ham are interested in the likes of Chris Smalling, Branislav Ivanovic, Mamadou Sakho, Mathieu Debuchy and Carl Jenkinson, who has already spent two previous spells on loan with the Hammers.

West Ham’s enquiries for the likes of Rashford, Martial and Smalling are more in hope than expectation, but the club feel it is worth asking the question before moving on to other, more realistic, targets."

If the top of their to do list is not "must buy a right back, a decent one and no loan shit" I would be amazed.

Burke is on a season long loan to Wigan, if he is back with us it's only to deal with his injury I think.

Bad mistake selling Tomkins and keeping Collins but we go with what we've got and Oxford needs to be drafted in at CB now too for the squad which was the original plan when flogging Tomkins. We also have Burke back so CB is not critical.

Obviously what we need most is a RB, energetic strong Midfielder and a goalscorer who are all good enough to go straight into the first team and improve the squad.
The ANC will rob us of Kayoute, Sakho, Ayew and Feghouli so Sullivan on this one has not said a lot wrong az long as we are looking at the the areas I mentioned that we didn't fill in the summer.

How about trying for Trippier at Spurs? Yid fan at work reckons he's fed up at not playing enough

We won't get 4 players of the quality required in the Jan window. I'd rather see a quality RB and a quality striker come in and not 4 cheapo imports or last gasp panic loans.

When is Byram back ?

We need a cb. A rb and 2 strikers this window

Re: Don't Worry.. Sulli is about to open his transfer "War Tin"
I'm starting to think the strikers arent the problem for us. It's the midfield and some of our defence.

It cant be a coincidence that we have barely had a striker score a goal for us all season. We need a stronger midfield player in the middle of the park and we need them to be faster.

I wonder of Oxford can play in midfield?

Failing that, Schnerderlien or Felani from Man U could work. Our midfeild is too light weight and doesnt support our strikers.

Re: Don't Worry.. Sulli is about to open his transfer "War Tin"
It will be highly underwhelming.

A whole new spine of quality and a RB would be nice but that's a summer job.

A right back and CB are most important and a Forward that isn't made of glass that scores occasionally would be nice.

Re: Don't Worry.. Sulli is about to open his transfer "War Tin"
I'm hopeful Sullivan will be making sensible decisions, not throwing bad money after good, so to speak. There's clearly a clamour on here for a reckless overspend (when isn't there!!?), but that's never a sensible decision for the club's future in the January window, and I don't think there's an easy fix to our issues in the transfer market whatever we spend. Of course a right-back, but that doesn't have to break the bank. And if there's a good value signing, then by all means. But I think in this situation the improvement has to come on the training field and from the coaching, not from sticking plasters in the transfer market.

First I've heard of that! Looks like we have to look elsewhere for a new right back then. At the moment it's probably our weakest position in the team and that's been the case for the last couple of seasons at least. You would think Bilic and his scouts would have been scouring here and the continent ever since Byram had his op. But it seems he is intent on ruining Antonio by forcing him into that position for as long as possible.

Case of closing the stable door after the horse has bolted.

Shame the owners had the chance to build a team around Payet in the summer after a great season, but lacked the ambition and were too tight to bring in the top players around him to take the club to a higher level that the higher capacity new stadia demanded

Predictably Payet now pushing for a move by stating in the French press that he is open to anything, speaks highly of and doesn't rule out moving back to Marseille.
