Re: Carlos Tevez anyone?
surely it's going to start to turn the heads of younger world class players. advertising must be some business in that country to justify such an outlay.

Re: Carlos Tevez anyone?
That's what I mean, they aim to get the money back somehow, whether it be tourism like you say, or by attracting more views which add to the clubs therefore in the long run bring more people in etc.

Just don't see how an outlay of 36.5 million over a year on a player who openly said he was looking to retire is a feasible option to generate interest.

Re: Carlos Tevez anyone?
when it's state funded they don't expect the money back, well certainly not in direct terms like you mean. to them they feel the only way to grow the popularity of their league quickly is to pay silly money to get some top players out there, who wouldn't usually consider them. they will see it as good pr for a communist country, a way of possibly aiding tourism etc

Re: Carlos Tevez anyone?
That is mental though. Isn't Pelle something like the 5th highest player in football?

How do they get any of the money back I can't imagine it's that big over there when it is filled with players who would be retiring or just bog standard average quality?

Re: Carlos Tevez anyone?
once again, state funded.

36.5 Million a year, THIRTY SIX MILLION. That is bloody mental. How can Chinese clubs afford all of this for past it players?!

Re: Carlos Tevez ANYONE?
It doesn't just set him up for life, its sets his children, his grandchildren, his great grandchildren etc up for life.

A couple of years of your life to do all that. Only someone that will never ever have the opportunity to earn that would be righteous enough to claim they wouldn't take the money.

Penners...

Agreed, there has to be a point in a players career where he's won something & just wants to top up the bank balance or hasn't quite got to the Ronaldo status and needs some insurance for later life.

I'm sure the players get treated like kings out there, so why not.

Me? I wouldn't go...I'm West AAAAAAAM fro n fro & would be there fro fick and fackin FIN

SoA

It's basically state funded mate, although wouldn't not surprise me if it's one big 'legal' money laundering operation!

That's what I think Trevor, last chance of a payday & why not.

Can't see how this Chinese league is going to sustain itself, not like theres huge world wide clamour to watch it on TV

Could probably buy Venezuela - or, should he look further from home, any small African state - with a wage packet like that
