Films for 2017
Top picks of films due for UK release in 2017:

Dunkirk (Chris Nolan)

Untitled Paul Thomas Anderson Fashion Project
(PTA and Daniel Day Lewis again, sign me up. Might end up being 2018 though)

Silence (new Scorsese, out today)

Star Wars episode VIII

Alien: Covenant

War for the Planet of the Apes

Blade Runner 2049

Manchester by the Sea

La La Land (I'm not usually a big musical fan but Whiplash from the same director was so good, and Emma Stone & Ryan Gosling are disgustingly talented so it might work)

The Handmaiden (Park Chan-Wook)

Kingsman 2: The Golden Circle

T2 Trainspotting (slightly concerned about this though)

The Dark Tower (Stephen King adaptation)

Baby Driver (Edgar Wright new film)

The Death of Stalin (Armando Iannucci)

Happy End (Michael Haneke's new film, if it comes out this year)

You Were Never Really Here (Lynne Ramsay new film)

Toni Erdmann (critical darling on the festival circuit in 2016)

Elle (Paul Verhoeven + Isabelle Huppert)

The Zookeeper's Wife

How to Talk to Girls at Parties

Ghost In The Shell (seems to be blasphemous for fans of the anime but might be fun)

COMIC BOOK CORNER

Spiderman: Homecoming
The Lego Batman Movie
Justice League
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
Wonder Woman
Logan (Wolverine)

And even though it's TV, a special mention to the new series of TWIN PEAKS. Which I can't wait for.

NOT looking forward to: yet another Transformers film, yet another Pirates of the Caribbean film, the Emoji Movie (yes, seriously), Power Rangers, Baywatch....

You cunts?

I only watched Silver Linings Playbook for the first time last week, so I'm way off seeing anything from 2017 yet!!!

I know it won awards etc, but I was surprised by how good it was. Bloody good actors are Lawrence and Cooper.

Re: Films for 2017
Justice League is bang average indeed, but it isn't boring or outright bad, just forgetable. It isn't total shit like the original cinema release of BvS was. Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman is superb again, Jason Momoa makes an awesome Aquaman and Cyborg was done pretty well. I could have done without the Flash as comic relief, but many will like it. Affleck and Cavill are again barely adequate as Bats and Superman, but at least Superman is back to being a sweet-natured bot scout now in contrast to Batman's psycho. The villain is completely unremarkable and forgetable.

The biggest mistake WB made was responding to the justified critcism of BvS's unnecessary length by cutting out 30 mins of vitally needed exposition from JL - an extra 30 mins of non-action would have been fine. The cuts were made to the wrong film.

Justice League is a bang average mess, as predicted, Batman v Superman extended was better.

Also got round to watching The Babysitter, worth watching for Samara Weaving and Bella Thorne's kissing scene to be honest. Silly horror not terrible.

Really enjoyed this too. Chadwick Boseman has a bit of presence about him, he's brilliant in Get on Up (James Brown biopic) if you haven't seen it.

Just got back from seeing justice league.

Meh. Starts off awfully but improves

Bit of a mess in places, paper thin plot and some of the worst CGI ever put on screen

The first Paddington was a great film, I hear good things about the 2nd.

Off to see Film Stars Don't Die In Liverpool tomorrow, they reckon Benning could be a shoe in for best actress at the Oscars

I got roped into seeing Paddington 2 the other night (I managed to convince her to see Blade Runner but by the time we got there it was sold out).

Have to say it was a really enjoyable film.

Netflix make a fair bit of crap but I watched one of their better films called 'I Don't Feel At Home In This World Anymore'. its a dark comedy directed by Macon Blair (Blue Ruin), stars Elijah Wood & David Yow (Jesus Lizard) and is superb

Re: Films for 2017
I saw 'Wonder' last night, it was a 2 week early preview screening.

Stars the boy from Room, Jacob Tremblay. Julia Roberts and Owen Wilson also star as his parents.

Tremblay's character is born with a disease which gives him facial differences and it is about him adjusting to life and starting school.

Great film with great performances.
