Never been to Angeles, but from what I see online, it's nothing compared to Pattaya or even Patong.

Been Philippines a few times . White beach is very lovely.

Locals all speak good English and getting around is fairly easy although very rarely runs to time.

Food is crap tho . It's like salt and pepper has never been invented and they just seem to cover everything in BBQ sauce.

If you take a girl out to dinner do not be surprised if she chooses Jolibee over everything else - and brings a friend along.

Not been Thailand.

In the Philippines you'll be into typhoon season. Can get cheaper prices than earlier in the year, but risk lots of pissing rain and worse.

As for Thailand, I believe it depends whereabouts regarding risk of rains, etc.

Re: Thailand or philippines late July?
There a big political struggle going on in the Philippines which has been going on for years. I wouldnt stray out of the tourist areas.Ive been once supposedly Golf Weekend ended up in girly bar then , then the liquor shop, then my mates house with 5 bar girls, was savage drinking all sorts. i had 2 and he ,the greedy fucker had 3, i never made it to golf.

Thailand can be the same but I dont go in for that anymore, i still go to Cowboy and Nana but if I get hassled by the "bar Staff" I just point at my wedding Ring and they usually apologise

Probably easier to get about in Thailand , but not tested Philippines out for traveling about

haha funnily enough mate I lived on Boracay for about 2 months of my time in the Philippines. Stayed in a mates place amongst the locals at the far end of the island, beautiful beach, probably the best I saw in Asia and I spent 7 years travelling as far and wide as possible - but can't agree with you about tourism there, I think 70% of the island were Koreans & Chinese. Better than the Western majority crowds of Thai tourist for sure - but certainly not a local tourist population. For that you would have to head further afield...Palawan 5 years ago was the final frontier of almost undiscovered paradise locations in SE Asia. Nowadays I'm sure things have spiralled quickly but there will still be some magic remaining. Same with Thai islands, Ko Phayam was amazing...discovered by the free spending scandi's but possibly one of my favourite places in the world.

I think my ten days in Boracay (and three weeks in Thailand) holds more weight than that.
