Is there any chance Everton will take that turkey Valencia off our hands?

That's mostly hind sight though Roeder-nowhere. Just because he scored for Everton late on in the game after coming on for the last knockings doesn't make him a good finisher.

I am sure that you are right and for a smaller club he'd be OK but I think he'll go to China or Spain and let's hope we get some good money for him to invest in the transfer market this summer...

Re: Is there any chance Everton will take that turkey Valencia off our hands?
Make him a starter at a smaller club & he'd do alright. Closes down, runs his arse off, good finisher & half decent with his head..problem is terrible positional sense. When a full back is ready to cross he'll be on the edge of the area, rarely is where a striker needs to be!

However, given the choice between him Zaza & Calleri who would you have chosen at the first part of the season??

2 goals and 4 assists when played out wide with a handful of starts aint bad. That said we'll probably not be able to sell him & end up paying him off like so many we have in the past

Fletcher partnered Rashford a few years ago in the Man U youths,
My old man always watched the youths, as he subscribed to man u tv, always told me Fletcher was the better of the two.

Given a chance by someone who believes in him, he'll bang goals in.

Has to be moved on and Sullivan will need to take a hit financially to free up space in the squad. 5 million should get rid of him. I mean we get 5 million ;-)

And while we are clearing out (ohh err) Fletcher, Collins (good servant), Spiegal, Arbeloa, Tore and Calleri. Fletcher is the one that some might disagree on but I dont think he will make it with us and needs to play at his age.

Replace with 3 quality players, pay top prices and wages to attract them if necessary and if there is any money left get another 2 young prospects.

Piece of piss this management malarky ;-)

'always the first out of training.'

Might explain why he's so fucking inept.

I watched last seasons DVD back a few weeks ago...was surprised how often he got an assist. I cant stand any footballer that is a weak as him. No excuse, always the first out of training.

And I'm not arguing that we've upgraded. My point is that we shouldn't keep treading over the same unreliable shit that we have/had over the last year. Move him on (and calleri, tore, sakho) and let's get someone in worth a roster spot or at least try something new. it's not as though we're giving up much in the process.

while apologies might be frowned on here, I certainly appreciate it, so cheers.

If anyone thinks that Valencia would have had a hope in hell of staying there, Koeman or not, they are a eluded fuckwit.

Re: Is there any chance Everton will take that turkey Valencia off our hands?
Looks like a very good chance that Koeman will take the Barcalona job at the end of the Season so will not decide on Valencia at Everton, he's coming back isn't he

Kylay we're playing the base stats game are we?

>1 goal in 16 apps for Everton this season
Most of his appearances have been as 2nd half subs and as winger far as I've seen. So his goal tally is comparable to Fegouli and Gore combined.

>4 goals in 23 apps for WH last season.
Equalling the 4 goals combined that Ayew, Sakho, Callieri, Zaza and Fletcher have managed this season - I haven't calculated the combined appearances but it's more than 23.

Don't get me wrong - I'm not saying he's God's gift. What I'm saying is that it's plain wrong to say he's a "bad, non-Premier League footballer" - his performances in a high performing West Ham team show that he can be a very effective Premier League footballer.

I don't see evidence that we've "upgraded" this season in postions he plays, with the possible exception of Fegouli who's a more reliable crosser of the ball (but who's not going to be a man who wins you possession in the final 3rd).

Re: Is there any chance Everton will take that turkey Valencia off our hands?
Yes Sniper but the key element you're forgetting in all this is that he isn't a good enough finisher after all the good work he does in a strike pairing. He needs to be moved on. We have gone beyond him same as Everton...

Sniper 10:56 Thu Mar 2
Re: Is there any chance Everton will take that turkey Valencia off our hands?
Whilst I don't think he'll ever be a really good premier league striker, one thing about him is that the only time he's looked effective is as part of a front two - a huge part of sakho stadium success when he joined was because he and Valencia dovetailed brilliantly and pulled defences all over the shop, also opening space up for downing to thrive which led to his England recall.

Again, Carroll and Valencia had started to click as a front two when injury struck again (see fa cup game against Everton).

Even the Europa qualifier at home to Astra we looked far better in the second half with him playing along side fletcher

He's not a wide player or a lone front man, but played with someone else and making runs and creating space is his most effective way of playing. You have two choices as a manager - sign players to suit your style or play a style that suits your current players. In valencias case he was signed when he didn't suit the style and has only looked decent when we've played a way that does suit him, but he's not good enough to change the system just to get the best out of him

I don't think ive ever seen a player so easily sent into an area he doesn't want to go by a defender

TeVaz 8:49 Thu Mar 2
Re: Is there any chance Everton will take that turkey Valencia off our hands?
He's another one of those " how did he ever make it as a top flight footballer " players !
Yes he's had his moment(s) , but then if I played enough times I would too .
