If they launch that round my way there won't be a cabbie left. Most of em can't even say 'hello'. Funny, they all seem to have got the hang of currency though.

There's no funnier way to end a boozy night out than legging it and knocking some smelly bastard minicab

150 sovs!Get a hotel, make you right dosh better spent on booze.
I'm always getting cabs from Hornchurch to Upminster, £8, with tip £10,could get mini cab for £6,but don't want a smelly low life knowing where l live and casing my home.

Can't argue with that joyo ;o)

As I live on the coast, a black cab is £150 from London and an Uber around £80, so fuck that.

Last time I got a black cab in Hornchurch to Upminster station, was £11 and took 3 mins.

I'm definitely in the wrong job.

Re: Taxi Drivers to do English test
When I used to use black cabs years ago they used to demand tips in an abusive and menacing way. I decided not to give a tip at all and the abuse became kind of threatening. I have never had this from minicabs although I hardly ever use cabs now.

I never give way to black cabs when driving because I am assuming they are all cunts like the ones I encountered all those years ago.

Re: Taxi Drivers to do English test
Thankfully I hardly ever use cabs, even when in London and I've missed the last train.

Always find a boozer open all night instead and get the first train home, as would rather spend my wedge on more alcohol than pay a bullseye for a cab.

This is an excellent idea.

I suggest top of the list of English words and phrases they should be taught include "No!" "Get your hands off me!" and "I'm only 13".

Re: Taxi Drivers to do English test
Google taking Uber to court saying they stole their info on driverless cars shows that the tech is highly sensitive, ready and will be rolled out in the next few years. 33000 to lose their jobs due to this will be a drop in the ocean compared, scary stuff. What will all those who lose their jobs to a robot do for work?

Bill Gates has a decent suggestion that Robots, automation, machines replacing humans should be taxed as humans and the tax should be used to retrain humans. Great idea, although unlikely to happen.

Yes the Knowledge is still used and as a Black Cab driver of 10 years I can safely say that given the shocking third world condition of our once great Capital City I rely on my knowledge more now ever before.

Re: Taxi Drivers to do English test
I think everyone that lives around London must have a mini cab from hell story - my two favourites being the time I got in a cab was handed an A-Z by the cabbie who asked me to navigate to my destination as he'd no idea where he was going as he'd only arrived from Nairobi the day before & the time the mini cab I was in crashed into another car on the Walworth Rd, I was in a bit of a hurry so whilst my 'cabbie' & the other driver were having a row over fault I jumped out, hailed a black cab & conitinued my journey only for my original 'cabbie' to start chasing me in the black cab down the road shouting that I owed him the fare...
I was a full 100 yards/3 minutes max into the journey with him......

Q when is it safe to do a massive Uey into oncoming traffic? A - When ever I feel like it.

Q is it acceptable to not work late at night and just sit outside a station with 400 other cabbies and moan like fuck that there's no money in the game? A - of course.

Cunts

Re: Taxi Drivers to do English test
Judging by some of the cabbies that have picked me up in the last year they need to do an english test AND a drving test.

I've had two blokes who didn't even know basic ROAD SIGNS, including speed limits.
