Marco Silva
How good is this bloke?

Is he worth a punt next season?

The image that most sticks with me about Howe, we when they were playing us (I think at their place on the third goal to break the deadlock) the goalscorer went straight to Howe beaming with pride. you could tell they were giving everything for him.

Another bad defeat against Burnley will be interesting.

As I said, Howe would want everything to do with us if we paid him £3m a year more than he is earning at Bournemouth.

Re: Marco Silva
If we had the chance to get Howe, I would jump at it. Imo, he's exactly the type of manager we need. I can't see any of the big six taking a punt on an English manager. Everton might if Koeman didn't work out, but they seem content together for now.

Sold brings up a good point though as to whether he would want anything to do with us. No idea our reputation is in the biz, but if I try to imagine looking in from the outside, we SHOULD have a sizeable war chest this summer, a team that can be greatly improved on by coaching up the players, and (ostensibly) world class facilities. Given the right amount of control an ambitious manager who hasn't quite made it, should relish an opportunity like that.

nothing ever happens like it should here though so...

with that said, we could take many worse routes than sticking by Bilic. He's had one euphoric season and one dismal one. if he can land somewhere in between next season and make some personnel changes, I wouldn't have many complaints

Yeah but I seem to recall it was something like seven on the trot he lost, no ? No club's going to accept that.

I'm sure he has the potential to be a good manager but there's a world of difference between being a good coach and a good manager (er, Steve McClarren anyone...)

Silva has already been successful with three other clubs.

Re: Marco Silva
Clement had a 42% win record at Derby lost 7 of his 33 games in charge I think Derby might be a bit better off if they had kept hold of him. Ancelotti is no mug and has called on his services at every club he had been too since linking up with him at Chelsea, too early in his managerial career for us but he has the credentials to be a very good manager.

I see your point but with the quality of players at his disposal - to my mind worse than those available to Clement at Swansea - I'm not sure you can dig Silva out too much. Worth bearing in mind also that Hull is a fucking shambles of a club, worse even than ours.

Clement started off swell at Derby but then seemed to lose the plot. I just have the impression that Silva has the stronger character and would deal with the pressure a little better.

Yes, so you did. Sorry, didn't read that first time.

I;m one for giving Bilic another chance to prove himself myself. Although I couldn't help getting a bit excited about Howe. I think if he did come he'd be superb for us.

Russ... I did say `deal of the century' so yeah maybe?? Can't see it myself... the shit cunts having to pay off Slav and then a mahoosive deal for a Bournemouth manager??

So if he's on £2.5m a year at Bournemouth and we offered him £5m do you not think his head would be turned?

Re: Marco Silva
I think the media are overlooking an important factor, and that is the work that phelan did. Hulls position in the table didn't really reflect the football they had been playing - they were really unlucky in an awful lot of games, losing to us being a classic example.

Hull were not in the situation Swansea were in when clement took over. They were playing absolutely atrocious football and looked dead certs for relegation, yet he properly turned them around and doesn't seem to be getting anywhere near the credit he deserves

Don't get me wrong, silva did a good job in the time he was there but then he also failed miserably in the two games that really mattered (ie the last two) where they produced perhaps their two worst displays of the season

I'd rather have clement

OMM

Become a cycle.

Exactly. There's something for consistency here. In Bilic's post match interview he said we have to learn from our mistakes.

We had 6 first team players out on Sunday against almost a first XI top 4 side. Yes our commitment sucked but there is only so much a manager can do off the pitch to motivate them.

I like that the chap who bought in Payet, Lanzini, Antonio, Obiang etc is now fucking useless as last summers transfers didn't all work out.

All managers make bad signings, let's see what this summers bring before seeing if the axe needs to fall.

No way will Howe come to us... in our current standings.... it is not a step up... well unless he was given the deal of the century... he's been shoehorned into the England job in the future.. he won't want to dent his reputation here

Re: Marco Silva
OMM ...no better time to change the manager as we really need a major clear out as discussed by many....will give new man plenty of scope to get new players in who will be adept to his playing style. Eddie Howe also my first choice...English and more than a touch of class about him . Could really build something for the future with him at the helm.

Dr Moose 11:53 Tue May 16
Re: Marco Silva
Career suicide for Howe to come to us, they currently see us as their equal based on this season so not a step up.

As has been said on other threads, Mancini will want mega money to spend. Don't be too surprised if\\when Southampton sack Puel he'll be linked with us.

Lee Trundle 11:51 Tue May 16
Re: Marco Silva
A lot of people on here have championed Howe for a while. Personally, I wanted to see him serve time in the Premier League with Bournemouth before I cast my judgement. I like what I've seen.

They're likely to finish above us, so he's probably a step up from what we have.

As bushey said on another thread, I like Bilic but he's fallen short a worryingly amount of times this season. IF we're changing mangers (that's a big IF), then I'd still like us to sound out a proven winner like Mancini.
