West Ham will make promising teenagers Reece Oxford and Domingos Quina available on a season-long loan this summer.

The duo are widely-recognised as two of the most promising young footballers in the country.

Oxford, in particular, burst onto the scene in spectacular fashion last season, playing a key role on his full debut as West Ham defeated Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium at the start of last season.

The 18-year-old is viewed as a future West Ham skipper and has also been tipped to captain England.

Quina, 17, played in West Ham's Europa League qualifiers last summer and has been an unused substitute for Bilic this season.

The youngster underlined his huge potential last year by playing a key role in Portugal's triumph at the European Under-17 championships.

The FA, however, are hugely interested in recruiting Quina for England, despite his Portuguese origin.

The Hammers view the duo as vital to their future first-team plans but are keen for the pair to gain regular first team action next season and will sanction loan moves.

The loan deals will include break clauses which can be activated in the winter transfer window.

It is understood the Hammers are keen to complete early deals this for Oxford and Quina this summer so they can have a full pre-season with their new clubs.

supposedly the reason he didn't get much game time at Reading was because Stam was unimpressed with his effort in training and general attitude to fitness.

Had a drink with a friend yesterday who's mate is best friends with Oxford.

Says he is out on the piss all the time.

Not sure if this si the sort of thing which makes Slav think hes not worthy of a place in the squad if hes not taking it seriously.

Agree with you - horrific displays. It seems to me like the club are overrating their squad (again) - minor sticking plasters when surgery is probably required.

Mentioning Forest as an example for why we shouldn't play the kids is ridiculous. You're meant to play one or two kids at a time, not a whole team of them.

So clearly the squad wasn't good enough cause fuck me no one else was terrified of Man City and Arsenal like we were

>>> So I wonder what lessons will be learned by being humiliated at home by Man City (twice) Arsenal and Liverpool with a team packed with cheap foreign signings and loans.

Thing is, the bulk of those sides were actually senior players who were at the club already, not the signings everyone complains about.

So the lesson of losing to Forest with a team packed with kids is never give kids a chance.

And remember the above named sides won a total of fuck all this season and don't finish in the top two

Just listening to the radio show, they say Bilic went to only one youth game this season.

Yep Gold's comments are really depressing. Really tragically bizarre. And he's usually the more sensible one.

this article has a few more quotes from sulli about the youth, including the nottingham forrest massacre as a reason for not playing youth.

almost feels like the owners are trying to replicate fat sam's approach of veteran journeymen to avoid relegation

Except we've just established that Tottenham don't without either buying them in or sending them out for extended loan periods.

Neither do I. Because that is made up.

Talented children's parents visit our ramshackle training ground.
Talented children's parents Google our chairman's comments.
Talented children's parents check our record of playing youngsters.

I guess we have to be content with seeing 33/34 year old has beens in the team for the short and long term future.

'What's the point of having an academy then?'

To produce players who will be ready for the first team when they are 20?

Note also that Gold, correctly, said it was very unlikely, not impossible.

Re: Oxford and Quina to go out on loan
It fucking winds me up having to hear about "seasoned" players. Look at some of the performances from "seasoned" players this season and and tell me that a hungry 18 year old would fuck it up so much worse. All clubs buy supposed experienced players that turn out to be utter shite and pay them silly money for the privilege. Owners and managers need to get their heads out of the sand, use some talented youngsters and save themselves a few quid in the process.

Re: Oxford and Quina to go out on loan
I don't understand what the hurry is. We're not going to get into the Champions League, and even the Europa League is probably pretty pointless considering how badly we play in it.

So why do we need a team full of seasoned internationals? Why can't we play a couple of kids every game?
