The Best Country to Live In as a Poor Person?
I fancy the United States.

Trailer parks, cable TV, drinking beer and eating bbq food whilst shooting coyotes.

Or a mountain hillbilly in Switzerland.

Would not recommend India.

I always thought Hawaii might be ok. Very nice climate, possibility to travel to other islands, no snakes or spiders, or any other dangerous animals, ok maybe tiger and great white sharks in the sea.

Some free food on land in the form of fruit, veg nuts if you knew where to look. And way less crazy people than the main land. Yeah, that would be my choice.

Portugal - Algarve

Warm climate
Second lowest cost country in Europe
Decriminalised drugs
Plenty of fish

The younger Portuguese women can be real grrrrrrrrrs, but they don't seem to age well (excuse the huge generalisation), so I'd take mine with me.

In fact, thinking about it I'd love that - except the being poor bit.

Yes Greece is a good shout to be homeless.... you could even end up being adopted by Huffers....

Re: The Best Country to Live In as a Poor Person?
As Sven said, a cold country is not the place to be if poor. The best things in life are free (or at least very cheap) but are only available if you can go outdoors to enjoy them. So somewhere like Greece would be my choice.

The old USSR because, as we all know, communism, which is one of the models of socialism, looks after all it's citizens with equal care. No one is left outside the model.

Except perhaps the people that are in charge.

I've been out and about in Odense with Germans after working with Danes there.

No signs of hatred, either in the workplace, or on the piss afterwards

Out of all the places on the west coast I've been, from San Diego up to Anchorage, San Fran has the biggest population of homeless that I've seen, and without doubt the biggest collection of loons.

Denmark - chilled locals, decent benefits, cracking beer, a proper sense of communal spirit and beautiful countryside..
They really hate the Germans too but in a comedic way

Yeah proper shocked me in SF... round Union Square it was full of homeless and beggars... plenty more down by the wharf as well... including that loon' the Bush Man before he snuffed it... what a fruit he was... then again $70k a year is not to be sniffed at....

The whole of the west coast of the states is a magnet for the homeless, which makes sense as the climate is milder, especially Southern California.

Staggered by the amount of homeless i see in San Fran, so much so it just become the norm. Locals, workers, tourists and the down and outs shuffling along Embarcadero all going about their daily business.
