Sunday football
So we reach the end of a strange, topsy-turvy season that started with such high expectations. Now summer beckons and with it the genteel sounds of clinking glasses in beer gardens around the country, of Test Match Special and the long, annual round of transfer speculation that will, as it always does, culminate in a last day rush of action that could have been done now. But first we have to put to bed today’s final round of games, which is concerned only with jostling for final position. Anyone remember a player we once had called Dmitri Payet?

ARSENAL vs EVERTON
Will Wenger go or stay? Will Citeh or Pool slip up so Arsenal can qualify for the Champions League? Everton are lounging on the beach, their 7th spot long since secure. Home win.

BURNLEY vs WEST HAM UNITED
What an achievement for Burnley, who were among many people’s relegation favourites. We will drop below Burnley if we lose. Will injuries see a raft of youngsters in the team? Draw.

CHELSEA vs SUNDERLAND
Top versus bottom. Home win. What else do you expect?

HULL vs TOTTENHAM
Poor old Hull. Safety was in their own grasp and they fucked up. Pochettino will want his nearly boys to make one final effort. Won’t be enough, though. Away win.

LEICESTER vs BOURNEMOUTH
Fuck me, the bore tie of the day. Home win.

LIVERPOOL vs MIDDLESBROUGH
Liverpool have a Champions League place to play for. Boro don’t. Home win.

MAN UTD vs CRYSTAL PALACE
You have to hand it to BFS. He done well. Will he park the bus, play 19th century football and annoy Jose again today? Home win.

SOUTHAMPTON vs STOKE
By league position it’s not been a bad season for the Saints, but you wouldn’t think it with all the speculation over Claude Puel’s future at the club. No such worries for Mark Hughes. The Saints to finish in eighth with a routine home win.

SWANSEA vs WEST BROM
Paul Clement’s stock has well and truly rocketed since his appointment at Swansea. I, for one, didn’t think he’d keep them up. You could, I suppose, make a case for him as manager of the season. Are the West Brom players on the same beach as Everton? Home win.

WATFORD vs MAN CITY
The season’s been a baptism of fire for Pep Guardiola, from whom so much was expected by Manchester’s blue half. It would take something rather unusual for Citeh to finish outside the top four. Home win.

Until August.

Not the sort of decision relegated teams get

Had to laugh when John Motson said Arsenal fans would be listening to their transistor radios to see how the other games were going. Silly old sod

I caught England's U20's 3-0 beating of Argentina, the real highlight was the sending off of one of the Argies after he elbowed one of ours all done by VIDEO REF.

Fucking excellent it was.

Got a fiver on 1.5 in all games at 7/1, so need a goal in a couple of games.

Arsenal, spurs and Leicester for a tenner at 5/1, so delighted to hear that Leicester just had a perfectly good goal ruled out.

Garth Crooks on Terry's substitution: "I don't know what to make of it, quite frankly.

This isn't Hollywood, it's a Premier League fixture. I'm a bit bemused, this has been set up. I'm uncomfortable with it.

It's a guard of honour in the middle of a game."

Quite right.
