They were having trouble with their crossbows because of the wet, the saps.

Italians fought at Crecy?

Yes mate Genoese mercenaries were sent to the front line and ran away only to be executed by the frogs who hired them.

Were there Liverpool fans in Honduras re-enacting the stampede for old times sake?

If it happened now there would loads of teams taking court action against Liverpool for lost income

So the Anderlecht team were inciting the crowd, eh?

Re: Heysel anniversary today.
I was at our ECWC final in 1976 and realised that the stadium was a potential death trap even in those days.

The terraces were covered in shingle, rocks and stones (which some of our supporters lobbed at the Anderlecht team on their lap of honour) the steps were very shallow and the fence separating the supporters resembled chicken wire.

It's easy to miss. They don't like to make a fuss...

Re: Heysel anniversary today.
As I recall the kick off was delayed and they made the decision that there would have been more trouble if they hadn't played the match and tried to clear the stadium
Don't imagine they would take the same decision again
Juve were given a dodgy pen and Liverpool lost so at least something went right

Re: Heysel anniversary today.
I suppose you could argue that it was the Italian's own fault for running away from a fight, as is their usual natural reaction eg. Caporetto, Crecy and in the desert in WW2,

The other one. Scorch?

Think I missed that. Tell me more.

Re: Heysel anniversary today.
same here Nurse. it always amazed me that UEFA carried on with the game while people were dying in the stands. how the players got through it is beyond me. the media have never fully brought them to book for Heysel, and probably Clough is the only person to ever criticise them I can think of within the game

Re: Heysel anniversary today.
This one bewilders me. Can't work out why Liverpool don't get more stick for this. I remember watching this on TV with my mum. There were Liverpool supporters, they were either on the pitch or in an area of the stands without seats (I remember they were not standing among seats) taking their time, leisurely hurling objects at the oppo fans. The TV cameras were deliberately pointed at it and we were watching this going on for ages. No officials seemed to be on the scene. We couldn't believe what we were watching.

I could never forget it.Not for what happened but because my son was born the same night in Upney hospital and I nearly missed the birth.

Don't be such a pair of cunts. It was obviously the supporters of London teams. DUH.

Re: Heysel anniversary today.
Kenny Dalglish reckoned some fans of ANOTHER Italian team had thrown stones at Liverpool fans the season before so they had it coming.
Can't recall a single expression of remorse from the Scousers for murdering 39 fans.

Wasn't Liverpools fault, the Italians started it, police cover up etc etc etc

Good (albeit two-year-old) article here.

Re: Heysel anniversary today.
I presume Juventus will mark it at the Champions League final next Saturday.
UEFA will probably fine them for it.
