Re: Puel our at Southampton
I work near Southampton and its been an open secret for 2-3 weeks that he would be off.

End of season home form was the issue, not enough goals, as others have said and the board seem happy enough to go ahead with the fans wishes to change manager.

Agree that there are only so many times that you can sell your best players and change the manager without coming unstuck.... fingers crossed.

Interesting. i didn't think they were that negative on the occasions I saw them play.

They fucking schooled us at LS last season. I thought they played really good attacking football that day. Oh well. Maybe their fans now have some slightly too lofty expectations after the last couple of years.

Re: Puel our at Southampton
He basically got bombed out as the fans don't like him or his negative football.

Sacking Puel doesn't necessarily mean they are showing ambition and drive.

It depends on who they bring in and why he got sacked.

Might be a simple as he hated the owners or vice versa- nothing to do with performance. Might be that they want to sell Van Dijk and he opposed it. Could be anything.

Not sure what's so special about Tuchel. He inherited a very good Dortmund side and came 2nd and 3rd. And wins the cup which has even less prestige than the FA cup.

They are showing the ambition and drive that we could learn from

Re: Puel our at Southampton
If it is Thomas Tuchel formerly of Dortmund it will be a bit of a coup
And a major boon for headline writers .... Touchy!

Were saying this morning that Southampton scored 17 goals in 19 home league games & once in their last 6 games.

Re: Puel our at Southampton
It won’t surprise me if they struggle next season, there a very well run club but I reckon there luck has got to run out at some point, for a change they will maybe retain there most influential players unless Liverpool have other plans!!! But there due a Grant or Zola and that should fuck them up……….

Puel will get another job without too many problems, he did ok there considering he had some big shoes to fill as the last 2 managers both showed they were a cut above and both moved on to bigger clubs and have done well and then I think it was Adkins before those 2 who took them from Div 1 back to the PL before he was deemed not good enough.

Be interesting to see who is appointed though.

Don't think the fan base was too impressed. And the certain members of the club felt he had not given some players his full support. Seems the standard has been set.

Re: Puel our at Southampton
Have they caught "Chelsea" given what he had to work with i thought he had done a commendable job, and unlucky not to have won a Cup?

Thomas Tuchel being lined up. Good choice.

Re: Puel our at Southampton
Perhaps they should stop selling all their players to Liverpool if they are so ambitious
Am hoping they are starting to get into diminishing returns and they make a few mistakes in replacing the sold ones.
Puel was asked to follow Pochettino & Koeman and hopefully they get a real dud this time.

8th and a Cup final they would have won with a competent linesman.

Ambitious club.

Seems to have been an open secret for a while.
8th and a Cup final they would have won with a competent linesman but seemed very unpopular with the fans.
Presume they were waiting til they had someone lined up

Surprising.

Didn't do a bad job.

poor decision for me but their board clearly think they're worthy of greater things, I don't
