Brian Dear - ECWC Final
Great video about a great night. A sandwich & a cup of tea then back to Upton Park. £30 a week wages.

Good player was Stag, off his knee off his arse, they all counted, I think that 5 goals in 20 minutes was against West Brom unless my memory is playing tricks?

Re: Brian Dear - ECWC Final
For a short few seasons Stag was a terrific striker to back up Sir Geoff and Budgie. If only we had a threesome like that today.
Met him a couple of times and was a decent feller, although a little cocky. For a while he borrowed Mooro's sponsored Lotus Cortina.

Went to that final and all the previous home games. Starting against La Gantoise with a crowd of about 18,000, we ended up with at least 80,000 'hammers' in Wembley that night. Load of fucking glory hunters!

Re: Brian Dear - ECWC Final
Brian Dear scored 4 goals in that Cup Winners Cup run to the final. By comparison,Geoff Hurst scored zero goals in that triumphant cup run. Dear also had a goal unluckily disallowed in the final for offside after Moore slid a lovely ball through to him. Moore missed a few of those cup ties owing to his testicular cancer in November 1964,being replaced as captain by Ken Brown senior.

Dear was sacked after the Blackpool episode, but that does not detract from his status as a legendary Hammer. Great bloke too.

Re: Brian Dear - ECWC Final
Great guy and his 5 goals in 21 minutes is still a record in the top flight.
