What kind of form must Inheanacho be in for City to activate this clause if he signs?
If this signing goes ahead with this buy out clause what sort of form must he be in for Manchester City to want to activate it?
Given how free spending City are and if they need a striker then surely Inheanacho will need to have been in Harry Kane or Romalu Lukaku type form for them to be interested otherwise there will be others across europe banging goals in who they will turn their £millions to. Realistically I think he could score 15 goals a season with us but will that interest them enough to want him back?

Spending that amount on a young unproven player is a gamble, one which if it pays off you can rest a massive profit, if it fails you make a massive loss.

With this deal we take the winning aspect out of the gamble, it's a no from me.

Well if he scores 20-25 goals then in he'll be worth 50m+ at least to a few clubs i'm sure if prices continue to rise they way they are so City will activate it and turn him for a quick buck!

We would get some money of course. but we'd still be back to square one looking fora striker. IMO it is basically third party influence so not sure why it is allowed when we got done for it over Tevez, where the clause was that Kia J could flog Tevez without WH having a say in the matter.

It's basically a shittier version of a loan.

If the player is any good City (or AN Other club making a deal with City) can have him. If he turns out to be Calleri's brother from another mother then we keep him, unlike a loan where we could at least send him packing.

He'll sign.

And then break his cruciate ligament in his first game for us.

That's exactly what they'd do.

The problem with a buy back clause isn't that City might want him back, it's that they will stand to make a profit from any club prepared to exceed it.

They'll have to think he's a better bet at 38 million than anything else they have or can buy for comparative money. I'd say he'd have to be Lukakuesque, almost.

Only question is can they activate the clause just to get him back and sell him on immediately for a profit? I'd hope not otherwise that will almost certainly happen if he's as good as we hope.

Crassus 9:07, I like the coffee table analogy. Sometimes for us a coffee table would have proved more useful than the player that was purchased.

Its obvious isn't it, dont see why others appear to find it so difficult

Lets get this right from here - I have a coffe table that does not fit my decor so I sell it to a mate for a fiver with an agreement that I can buy it back for a tenner. Now that does not mean that it will ever likely fit my decor but in the event it becomes collectable and someone else will pay a score for it I can take it back and trade it on.

The End.

''If'' avery big ''If'' he does sign for us and is well liked/ appreciated by the fans cannot see him wanting to go back to Citeh to get splinters in his ass on the bench. Also on a personal level I would guess thier isa larger Nigerian Community in London than Manchester to make him feel more at home.

Think they have to wait a year to do that. Hence why Real Madrid didn't sell Morata as soon as they bought him back last summer.

It will be activated if City could find just one buyer to pay over 38 million at the time

Re: What kind of form must Inheanacho be in for City to activate this clause if he signs?
I can't see it ever being activated as long as Pep is manager. He clearly isn't his type of player, he wants more from his forwards than just goals, hence why Aguero's place has been seriously under threat at times under Guardiola.

Even if that changes and a new manager comes in, City have top drawer forwards already and will only want the absolute best whenever they need a new one so Iheanacho would have to absolutely smash it for the clause to be activated I'd have thought.

The clause will be activated if he does 20 stepovers in a season.
