Quite amusing, Everything that goes wrong in work is blamed on the Saudis in jest. Will get my 1 stop option to Thailand back when it goes back to Normal. Qatari Airways direct is the only option for flying to Thailand at the moment and they are making the most out of it.

Gonna end up as one massive climb-down/face-saving exercise.

All sides should get more women into proper - not token - positions of power to sort things out.

Mini-skirts and driving skills not obligatory.

Huge societies based on men who cannot be trusted or hold responsibility for their own actions.

Saudi Start Embargo, Qatar remains calm , Saudi list 13 demands , Qatart remains calm , Saudi drop to 6 requests now , Qatar tells Saudis to Fuck off

UNITED NATIONS—Four Arab nations locked in a dispute with Qatar said Tuesday that they have revised and curtailed their list of demands for Doha, in a diplomatic overture aimed at moving toward a solution to the standoff.

Diplomats from Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Egypt told reporters that they had altered their demands from 13 detailed requests to six generalized ones focused on “principles.”

“Of course we are all for compromise but there will be no compromise on these six principles,” said Abdallah Al-Mouallimi, Saudi ambassador to the U.N.

Qatar’s ambassador to the U.N. dismissed the new demands as a move to save face amid international pressure on the group to end the standoff. Still, both sides said they hoped to resolve their problem through regional mediation. They also reiterated that they had no plan to escalate the conflict to a military standoff.

Among the more prominent changes to the Arab quartet’s was a decision to stop calling for Qatar to shut down the Al Jazeera broadcasting network, or to expel people deemed problematic, such as clerics with extremist Islamic views.

The new list also avoids imposing deadlines and casts a broader approach, asking Qatar to refrain from inciting violence and to aid regional and international efforts to combat terrorism. It also demands that Qatar remain committed to a set of previous counterterrorism agreements with Arab countries in 2013 and 2014.

Qatar had previously rejected the demands of the group, which carried a deadline of July 5, as a violation of its sovereignty.

Alya bint Ahmed Al Thani, Qatar’s ambassador to the U.N., said Tuesday that the group was trying to ease the pressure created by the diplomatic and economic standoff the group sparked in early June

“It’s not because they are showing a sign of good faith as much as responding to the heat they received for the unreasonable demands they initially made,” she said.

In the past few weeks, the U.S. and the U.N. have stepped up mediation efforts between Qatar and the opposing Arab countries. Kuwait is playing a regional role in mediating the crisis. Turkey and Iran have sided with Qatar, with Turkey dispatching military personnel to Doha and Iran sending planeloads of aid and food to help Qatar circumvent a trade blockade.

For the U.S., the diplomatic crisis is an added complication to a Middle East already embroiled in conflict and upheaval, from Syria to Iraq and Libya. Extremist violence by groups such as Islamic State have been fueled by Sunni-Shiite sectarian strife.

U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson traveled to the region last week and met with officials to urge an end the rift, which threatens the U.S.-led anti-Islamic State coalition. The U.S. and Qatar signed a mutual agreement to combat terrorism financing, a development seen as positive.

The U.N. also dispatched its top political envoy, former American diplomat Jeffrey Feltman, to the region to try to broker a truce between Qatar and its opponents. Diplomats and officials from all sides have traveled to New York and met with U.N. Secretary General António Guterres and members of the Security Council.

Still, the Arab quartet struck a tough tone. UAE’s minister for International Cooperation Reem Al Hashimy said the ball was now in Qatar’s court and Egypt’s deputy ambassador to the U.N. said Qatar had a false perception of its regional status and power.

Amazingly he wanted to destroy the tomb of Mohammed in Mecca too, since Wahabists think that famous mosques and tombs are a sort of idolatry.

Fifth, there were 2 independent investigations that both uncovered the same results that Muslim Wahaabist extremism comes from Saudi and is responsible for the extreme interpretation of Islam Inc full face veils and a non acceptance of the host nation with the aim of converting or killing it. Also found that 1 in 4 UK Mosques preach it.
The investigations were from The Independent and some university professor.

the Al Saud's have been intermarrying with the Al ash Sheik family (descendents of Wahhab) for generations, and one of them is always the grand mufti. Here's some of the thing the current top man (Abdul-Aziz ibn Abdullah Al ash-Sheikh) has said in recent years:

reconciliation between religions is impossible

All churches in the Arabian Peninsula must be destroyed

Our mothers and grandmothers got married when they were barely 12. Good upbringing makes a girl ready to perform all marital duties at that age

In June 2013, he issued a fatwa demanding the destruction of statues of horses placed in a roundabout in Jizan:[11] "The sculptures [must] be removed because they are a great sin and are prohibited under Sharia (Islamic law)

He banned chess

He banned snowmen

He said that any Muslim that watches Jurassic Park or any of the follow up films should be killed

“As a Muslim one cannot believe that dinosaurs existed, that would mean that the believer then accepts that the world is billions of years old and also believes in evolution. Which turns one into an instant kafir, and that also gives him a wajib-ul-qatl status and then we have no choice but to kill him”

Re: Gulf Embargo of Qatar, Saudi Found to be biggest funder of Terroism in the UK
I was always struck by something that is the Emirati government's take on it: that there's no such thing as a peaceful fundamentalist. Fundamentalism by its nature is intolerant, will always try to dominate politics if it can, and if it can't dominate, it will resort to violence.

Erdogan would be a perfect example of a fundamentalist who has come to power in a democracy and then, when things start going wrong for him, has began to undermine that democracy. Taking over independent newspapers, gaoling opposition leaders, purging the army and any other institution of anyone who isn't a supporter of his.

Saudi Arabia is without doubt the biggest supporter of Sunni fundamentalism. Saudi is the birthplace of Wahhabism and its oil money funds intolerant strains of Islam around the world, which in turn begin to overshadow more moderate but less well funded schools of Islam. Until the West kicks its addiction to Saudi and Middle Eastern oil, nothing is going to change.

67,

Is Saudi on DT's racist travel ban list? I think it is....think it was Iraq that was removed when the US realised so many of the Iraqis who helped US forces were in serious danger of reprisals. They changed the ban to help Iraq, which of course completely ignored the terrorist threat implied by the ban in the first place.

Still, where DT's concerned we are talking about someone who is seriously ill, and therefore normal thought process doesn't apply.

Tories are excusing continued weapon sales to Saudi.

Just watched debate in Parliament on Beeb. Tories have just won a case brought against them to stop weapons sales to Saudi

Evidence was apparenty so secret that not even the people who brought the case were allowed to hear it.

Selling weapons to "The biggest funder of terrorism in the UK" ?
