Pronouncing foreign players names
It seems that the new Manchester City full back Benjamin MENDY is actually called BONGEE-MON MENDY according to the media I have heard.

Just call him Ben FFS

Re: Pronouncing foreign players names
In the book I have been reading about the fall of Old Mexico to the Spanish Conquistador Hernan Cortes, there is a smorgasbord of unpronounceable names.

The Emperor Montezuma was the easy one, but he named his daughter Tecuichpotzin.

Huitzilihuitl, Cuitláhuac, Xicotencatl, Chichimecatecl and Tlapaltecatl Opochtzin all played major parts in the battle between Cortes and the Mexica for control of the capital, Tenochtitlan.

I suppose we should consider ourselves lucky that Javier Hernandez is descended from the Spanish and not from the Aztecs....

They quite often have a stab at French and other Romance languages, but get something as simple as Huth totally wrong.

German hasn't had the English "th" sound for several centuries.

Obviously, German is far too exotic

On the Fulham stream the other day, the commentator kept calling Massuaku, Massawacky. Then again, maybe he was right, I don't speak too many African languages.

My forma Spanish house mate who came from the same town as Cazorla said it was pronounced how it looks in English, without the 'th' sound..

And Benjamin in French sounds much like French, except it's like Benjaman.

Re: Pronouncing foreign players names
Cazorla's name is the worst for this. The commentators overpronounce it way too much.

Gibbs..... to Ramsay..... to Ca-THOOOOORRRRR-la
