Lanzini misses first 2 matches
From Ken Dyer's story in the Standard:-

Bilic will have to be patient before one of his other major summer signings, Javier Hernandez builds what he expects to be a fruitful partnership with play maker Manuel Lanzini.

The Argentine picked up a knee injury in pre-season and will miss the first two games of the season, both away against Manchester United and Southampton. Michail Antonio is also set to miss the season opener due to his hamstring problem.

it's getting to a point where not only is their no competition, but there's also nothing to get excited about. you can only hope to sign players who are good enough to keep you up but not too exciting that the big boys come in for them.

Maybe fat sam had it all figured out after all.

Can't argue with a lot of what has been said, what price loyalty?

Personally I wouldn't accept any offer for Lanzini but if he were to go it must be for maga-bucks! Allegedly at the outset of this transfer window the board priced him 'in excess of £25m' I trust they have since moved to the obscene prices being paid for players today. A scouser post said Lanzini was better than Coutino, in terms of potential he is probably right so that should act as an indicator of price. But no thanks to the money, let's keep the player!

As Bilic said, it doesn't matter how long your contract is, you could have 5 games or 10 games left. Obviously talking about himself and his contract, but the same applies to players. The only thing that stops players from moving more often, completely regardless of their contract length, is the transfer window.

Someone offers way over the odds for Lanzini, we'll take it. I suspect it will have to be WAY over the odds though.

Re: Lanzini misses first 2 matches
When we signed him permanently it was on £35,000 a week til 2020.
I understand from what I have read that he has been offered a new one at £85,000 per week and presumably the delay was his agent quite rightly bidding that up.
Of course if he decides he wants to go to Liverpool we are in the same position they are with Coutinho whatever his contract situation and wage.

In an ideal world Liverpool hold firm, Coutinho gets the hump and plays like a cunt and Barca move on and buy an alternative player. Hopefully Lanzini then signs his contract and if that player is Eriksen then he is too high an earner for Spurs to attract.

Coutinho signed a new contract for Liverpool earlier this year. They mean fuck all if the player decides that he wants to go.

Re: Lanzini misses first 2 matches
Thx Fraser, but from what I read there is a world of difference between the contract he signed last year and the one he has been offered now. In addition the signing of the current one would indicate a commitment to the Hammers beyond the scousers present scenario.

Re: Lanzini misses first 2 matches
He signed one last year,if that isn't good enough to keep him here what difference would a new one make?

Re: Lanzini misses first 2 matches
Has he signed his new contract yet? Can't bear to think of losing him to the 'ace poachers' in the premiership.

He has potential to be better than Coutino and would be irreplaceable in my view, would love to see him fully committed to the Hammers. (He probably is and its just the lousy media that are stirring things up - I hope!!)
