We're going to win tomorrow!
2 goals to 0
First game of the season for me and I can't bloody wait!

All seems really fucking doom and gloom at the moment everyone seems to have the hump.

Let's just crack on and get behind West Ham United.

Re: We're going to win tomorrow!
Come old fellow, miserable, old gits. Drop the blind faith and be realistic. Defeat is the logical conclusion simply based on what we have seen for the last 12 - 18 months of Bilic's tenure, the pre season and United performances and our continuing inability to get possession and keep it especially in midfield.

The only game we looked half reasonable in was against Fulham when Lanzini was on the pitch and in patches of the 2nd leg against Werder Bremen. Otherwise, just a continuation of the last 18 months.

New players might gel to help but I suspect Bilic will continue to have who he wants to play first before thinking about the formation and tactics rather than having a tactical plan for beating the opposition and selecting players for those positions that best deliver on that. We shall see.

Dear young woody
I like the optimism of you thread and I did agree.
However, it troubles me that now it is wrong as we do not have a game tomorrow.
May I suggest that in the future you name your thread "We're going to win on Saturday!"
Sincerely Mex

I've believed that every game we've played for the past 50 years.
Small wonder I'm jaded

Keep up your optimistic posts woody. You are an oasis of youthful positivity in this desert of middle aged and old git pessimism.

I hope you enjoy what is virtually a home game for you.

Re: We're going to win tomorrow!
Think we need to go to a back 3 again that saw us looking pretty solid last games of last season ( Liverpool aside).

Don't know why bilic didn't do this last week.

Zabeleta and cresswell as wing backs with arn and Antonio in front of them, you'd hope that could start some good counter attack

I agree with young woody, for no particular reason except that I don't want to agree with Vexed.

Re: We're going to win tomorrow!
Couldn't agree more Alf. Bilic really is starting to become more clueless as we go along. He needs pace and power in the midfield

Re: We're going to win tomorrow!
I am with Vexed and others on this. I have not seen anything from preseason and Bilic's set up to suggest he is improving us. Even with a recognised forward, left sided midfielder now available and a proper right back the soft, slow middle of the team is still inhibiting our effectiveness. That along with the laid back body language and lack of intensity and fitness makes us easy to get through for teams that move the ball swiftly and accurately.

Also, not being able to get and keep possession in the middle means any strikers will be feeding on scraps.

Bilic does not have Kouyate but otherwise has a full squad but will try to fit in his favourites and purchases rather than knowing a system and tactics, trying to look at the opposition and match up to negate their strengths and then picking the players and formation to execute the tactical plan. Its why he loves the old school 4-4-2. Its what he knows and allows him to play Ayew, Noble and other favs or perhaps "mates"? Management by emotion ?

2-0 to them I reckon :-(

A repeat of last week - we'll play for the 1-0 defeat and get tanked.
We really are fucking average and slow as fuck

I really think that with Mark Noble playing in the centre of midfield that it could be a repeat of.....
