WHU goals conceded over 47 games comparison WBA, Burnley, Saints, Palace
* Burnley have conceded 27 less goals in an equal amount of games played.
* WBA have conceded 31 goals less over 44 games

Calculated from

2016-17 Premier, League Cup, FA Cup games
2017-18 pre-season + 2 new season Premiership games.

West Ham - 47 games played, 89 goals conceded - minus 42 (Forty Two goals worse than games)

West Brom - *44 games played, 58 goals conceded - minus 14

Burnley - 47 games played, 62 goals conceded - minus 15

Southampton - 47 games played, 70 goals conceded - minus 23

Crystal Palace - 48 games played, 75 goals conceded - minus 27

As an Internationally capped defender Bilic can't organise a defence. That's his death as a manager......

It's a pretty indefensible stat to be fair. If any of us came on here saying that we were aiming to be a West Brom or Burnley then they would deserve a cunting.

It's an appalling stat. It really is.

Well said.

Stoneman, try and keep up. Your man's incompetence will be the ruin of our football club if drastic steps are not taken in the near future.

Our defence will once again resemble 'The Keystone Cops' many times this season.Everyone knows you need to sort out the defence first to have any form of success, but this being West Ham they never learn.

With a coach, who as a player hated training, an ancient fitness trainer who looks as though he smokes 40 a day, and a manager who does, how can anyone be surprised at these rotten figures.

"We are only being compared to a handful of teams in these stats. Why not Sunderland, Hull, Boro, Swansea or Stoke?"

Because 60% of those were relegated and the other 40% are shit? What are we aiming for? We are homeless but have a great big stadium, the likes of Sunderland, Hull, Boro, Swansea & Stoke should now surely be as far way from us as we are from Manchester City - that's what our esteemed owners told us would happen anyway.

To be fair the better comparison is goal difference. Only once have we finished a season with a positive goal difference. And Bilic must be due some credit for that.

Not great reading admittedly but anybody using these stats need to consider a few of the below points.

We are only being compared to a handful of teams in these stats. Why not Sunderland, Hull, Boro, Swansea or Stoke?

If West Brom and Crystal Palace come up looking rosey, would fans prefer we were going in the same direction as those clubs? Would a Pulis improve us? Are we wrong to have sacked Allardyce seeing as his palace defence is apparently admirable now?

I don't pretend to admit I'm not convinced on Bilics tactical approach but to use this as evidence to support a condemning agenda when it clearly misses the bigger picture is naive.

Fake news.

Last thing I needed is numerical proof. Diarrhea guard action. We're literally shit.

maybe the dwarves can hire Pulis one day a week as a defensive consultant, those stats are bleak reading :. (

Shockingly poor. Good thing we've got a once great defender as our manager.

I think we're only 1 defeat away from having the record of most premier league losses of all time. Think we're currently tied with Everton

No wonder I'm scared before a match.
Wonder how the players react as improvement often comes with confidence...
