How on earth can you have a pop at the fans you twat !
Thousands give their support home and away every season and many have spent thousands during their life time.

Got to be a wind up as proper West Ham wouldn't post this shit.

As he was when the Villa tried to force the issue some time back.

They then neglected to join in with the initiative as we were going for the OS at the time.

I am sure you're well aware by now our board are proven liars, Jaan, so best not to take their word for anything.

"I can't see English football adopting it en masse, it's not the demographic they're after and it's certainly not the demographic our board are after. "

David Gold has been vocally supportive of it for years. He recently donated a signed shirt to the crowd funding campaign for safe standing to raffle off.

Your last sentence is key regardless of whether English football adopts it.

Re: Lets be honest for a minute
Spurs have already futureproofed their stadium for safe standing, as have Chelsea as no doubt will Everton as well when their plans are finally released. My sense is that the government have a fairly relaxed attitude toward it but have been happy for a bunch of know nothing Scousers to be against it as it kicks the issue into the long grass, but Liverpool getting in on the act suggests tacit acceptance by the families. So it's going to happen. No doubt our owners will offer 15p and a mars bar towards reconfiguring the stands though.

Re: Lets be honest for a minute
Brilliant Gavvy, it'll be fantastic if all of the chairmen decide to fund safe standing when there is less and less of a business case for it.

I'm talking about the chairmen who own their own grounds of course.

I can't see English football adopting it en masse, it's not the demographic they're after and it's certainly not the demographic our board are after.

We were relatively not too shite and now we are total shite.

In the period of from 1964 to 1980 of 16yrs we won the FA Cup 3 times and the Cup winner cup. Also Cup Winners cup runners up and League cup runners up twice.

In the following 37 years we’ve won nothing.

Yes, they do that to try to appropriate a sense of being 'from the trerraces' when they missed the boat by years.

Still, it may be making a comeback. Apparently Liverpool are factoring in safe standing for the kop redevelopment. If anyone can convince the hillsborough families who seem to have a stranglehold on government policy on this, its them.

chim 5.14, well said. We seem, to me at least, to be living through a period of unrelenting negativity. What is even worse is that this feeling does not come from oldsters but people who by demographic standards are relatively young. People who did not see WHU play prior to the PL formation.

Sod 'em.

Anyone who started going to football in the 90's missed out on the best football crowd experience ever......then it became fashionable and ecstasy pills had mellowed out the violence by then, which was timely considering them all likely to get prison terms if they carried on.

If anything is shit at West Ham it's because the above has taken over all that was good and the progress of change has made it unrecognisable.

Pub Bigot

I spent 5 years in Camden as well. Good places you mentioned. Could add The Hawley Arms, World's End and WKYD. But I was more Chalk Farm/Primrose Hill End so The Queens Head, Carnavan castle, The Engineer. and some place up Adelaide Road I've forgotten the name of.

Great times and memories.

Chim, I used to spend most nights in Camden from the ages of 16/25. Used to love the old Camden Palace, Ballroom, Dublin Castle, Barfly among others.

I'm a lover of rock and metal, so Camden/Tuffnel Park where my stomping grounds outside of the East End.

The last time I was there though was about three years ago, and much like Shoreditch, it's been heavily taken over by the Hipsters and boring no character middle class mobs. Convenient? Sure. Interesting? In place. Sold Out? Maybe.

I think it was the great Dr Samuel Johnson who memorably said 'when a man is tired of Camden he's a bit of a boring cunt'.
