The 2017 U.S. Open, Flushing Meadows
... starts monday.

bound to be a few new faces in the later stages, with a host of top players withdrawing -- including Murray, Djokovic, Nishikori, Raonic, and Wawrinka. Hard to see past Federer without that lot though.

in the womens, Serena is pregnant, stosur withdrawn, and a bizarre short ban for Errani who swallowed a breast cancer tablet. Sharapova given a controversial wild card but has drawn top player Halep anyway.

Anderson = South African = Choker

Didn't see it but probably understandably a bit overwhelmed being in a grand slam final so easy meat for Nadal who has been in superb form.
Not Nadal's fault that everyone else fell over
Hopefully back up to the full complement of big players for Australia in January

Grumpster, agreed Anderson was quite a poor opponent. Shocked when he sailed forehsnds long, missed overheads and failed to dispatch high mid-court junk balls. Very basic stuff.

Nadal though was superb. So impressed with serve, volleying, slicing, spin variety, movement. He has it all.

Not sure this should count towards nadal's slam total.

Been a bit of a non event in the mens with all the injuries.

Can't believe his luck playing someone who had never been beyond the 4th round of a major before and who basically isn't very good.

I'd like to see Coco win it.

And not in a racist way, she just looks like she'd be blinding on a night on the piss.

Incredible in the women's.

Re: The 2017 U.S. Open, Flushing Meadows
Well, well ...... Del Potro beats Federer in 4 sets
Seems he only had a bit of flu in his previous win over Thiem so goes through to play Nadal in the semi final (Friday night?).
Anderson v Carreno Busta in the other semi.

Got Kvitova at 18/1, though she has a toughy there.

And I need her at about 150/1 to get back all the wedge I've lost on her over the years!!

Probably have to fancy Pliskova from those draws to clean up.

Re: The 2017 U.S. Open, Flushing Meadows
meanwhile, in the women's quarter finals, USA has a player in all four matches ;

Venus v Petra
Sloane Stephens v Sevastova
Keys v Kanepi
Vandeweghe v Pliskova

Re: The 2017 U.S. Open, Flushing Meadows
Blimey, almost a guaranteed major then for either Fed or Nadal.

Might stick a score on Federer then as he's the biggest odds at 2/1.

Re: The 2017 U.S. Open, Flushing Meadows
Federer plays Del Potro in the quarter final ... DP will be exhausted after coming from 2 sets down so an easy Fed win.
Then plays Nadal in what is effectively the final in the semi
The other side of the draw is a bunch of no-marks
Querrey v Anderson
Carreno Busta v Schwartzman

Re: The 2017 U.S. Open, Flushing Meadows
Are Nadal and Federer meeting in the final, or are they in the same half of the drawer?

Been an odd tournament really.

Went to bed with Thiem 2-0 up and me on him 3-0 at 6/1 for £8.75, rubbing my hands together at the fact that Del Potro was playing like someone ranked 1000 in the world.

Fair play to the fucker battling back to win, good lad is Del Potro for an Argie.

Re: The 2017 U.S. Open, Flushing Meadows
Got £7.50 on rublev at 11/2.

Wrote it off at the beginning of the second, but has a chance again now.

First match I've watched all comp!!
