GGG V Canelo Alverez
This truly is the best v the best, both fighters are in most people’s top 5 pound for pound lists.
GGG has ruled the 160lb division since cotto beat a crippled Sergio Martinez a few years back.
Canelo has won titles and 147, 154 and beat cotto and 160lbs
Most people a year ago would have had GGG a stone cold favourite, but tighter victories over our won kel brook and especially Danny Jacobs have narrowed the odds.
Personally I still make GGG, I slight favourite as I’ve never seen punching power like that before, his knockout highlight reel is something else.
Now that mzyweather v McGregor is out the way, we can look forward to this.
Who have you got to win and why?

Re: GGG V Canelo Alverez
Yeah I think so too.

Be great if he could put in a decent performance too.

I understand the promotion of the fight has been pretty much non-existent over there?

Re: GGG V Canelo Alverez
Yeah Lane was the man.

The whole thing is a shambles ever since Fury had a "back injury" and had to pull out of the original fight 6 months ago. Well, longer actually since he somehow manged to become the mandatory challenger despite having absolutely no claim to the position.

He'd have had a neutral ref and 3 neutral judges if he'd fought down here.

Probably why he didn't want to.

Re: GGG V Canelo Alverez
Mils lane was my favorite ref .....

i dont think theres much to worry about in bias with an English referee , different story with judges tho , promoters should not be able to pick judges for their own fights

Re: GGG V Canelo Alverez
You'd think that a neutral ref would just be a given really, wouldn't you?

For a world heavyweight title fight, even if it's the shit belt.

Just about everybody involved in the fight has said they want a neutral ref, although I wouldn't trust the Fury's as far as I could throw them.

Re: GGG V Canelo Alverez
i think its just due to the fact they want a neutral ref in term of nationality rather than o conner being a shit ref...

i think when he scored fights before , hes made a few dodgy calls in the past , but that wont be relevant for this one

Re: GGG V Canelo Alverez
That judge has been stood down from major title fights.

(I thought Byrds only got stood up)

Re: GGG V Canelo Alverez
Yeah. I understand he's done Fury's last 3 fights, and has a bit of a record for being shit.

The WBO aren't happy with British Boxing.

Re: GGG V Canelo Alverez
Talked to all the coaches at my son's boxing club tonight. Not one of them had Canelo although one thought it was close. Most had 3 to 5 points margin for GGG.

No-one remotely understood the 118-110. Funnily enough two coaches who had watched it in Arabic somehow and therefore fucked off the commentary and had it on silent both scored GGG by a wider margin.

is O'Connor in charge of the parker fight?

East Auckland Hammer 11:06 Mon Sep 18
Re: GGG V Canelo Alverez
He's saying that Julie Lederman is a fairly well respected boxing judge.

And a woman.

what did you mean about the Julie bird?

Re: GGG V Canelo Alverez
Controversial boxing referee Terry O'Connor.....

Anyone shed any light on him?

Sounds like he's a bit shit.

who wins out of canelo and jacobs ?

longford 9:37 Mon Sep 18
Re: GGG V Canelo Alverez
Julie lederman , Harolds (hbo's unofficial judge ) daughter ..

Is one of the most respected judges in the game.. .

im only going on here say tho, ill have to take a squizz at her calls over the last years

just thought id throw that in there :)

Re: GGG V Canelo Alverez
I don't think a year wait will make any difference. Canelo can only fight one way against Golovkin and that is in retreat. he doesn't have the punch power or stamina to fight on the front foot against him

Had GGG winning, but the fight, for me, was a let down. I wanted and expected more.
