Brilliant. Again. How good is this man over such a long time. We have always asked so much of the back line over the years and he has always delivered when he's been in amongst it.

What a man.

Re: Collins
Schindler was the only one singled out for praise by their boss wasn't he? Also how huge was that striker they brought on - he was stacked!

Ginge was awesome - although I'm not a big fan of the 'use ginge as a pitching wedge' tactic for free kicks etc. But defensively he's superb - his positional sense and awareness are amazing and bearing in mind he really is very slow, he more than compensates for that.

In fact to have a back three with ginge and fonte and with zabaleta at wing back should, technically, mean we're vulnerable to anyone with half a yard of pace but it worked very very well

Re: Collins
Ginge and Carroll were causing them immense problems from what seemed like a never-ending succession of corners. With the amount of shirt-pulling and grappling going on, how one of their defenders didn't get sent off or give away a penalty is a mystery.

Re: Collins
At the end he took off his shirt and walked across the pitch to give it to someone in the East 'Super Chicken Run' Stand which was a nice touch.

I was still driving gone midnight when he came on talksport for a chat... ended by saying he was going to wind down with a quite beer... ledge!

Re: Collins
Andy seemed to get more joy out of Jorgensen for me. I thought he stood out in a pretty weak back 4. Yes he did have a grapple with Andy alot but didnt give away too many silly fouls and didnt get booked so fair play to him. Looks a bargain at £2M

Rossal

Impressive that he was up against AC who won the most aerial battles of anyone in the PL so far this season? His ability to hold onto Andy's shirt was certainly impressive, he just didn't get near the ball.

Ginge always is superb for us

A real leader, winner and warrior on the pitch. Fantastic servant to our club

On another note, thought that Schindler for them was impressive

Re: Collins
Yeah I thought Zabaleta was awesome as well. Him and Cresswell give us good balance.

With a fully fit squad we have a very good team. Sadly it's unlikely we'll ever see our best XI over an extended period such is the curse of the West Ham injury list

I will say I thought Zabaleta was outstanding

Personally I don't rate any of our centre halves, I think people get C&B tinted spectacles with players like Reid & Collins.

Love him....but lets be brutally honest, he is pretty shit!

Re: Collins
Funny how opinions differ, I thought he was terrible

His distribution was pathetic and constantly put us under pressure by passing to an opponent

Play like that against Tottenham and we will be destroyed

Re: Collins
Collins is a great defender and servant but we must remember who we were playing and how they were playing too, different attacking styles suit different defensive players and if I had to pick a team to play for the first game in our big young stadium I doubt I would have chosen better than a newly promoted side like Huddersfield, regardless of their lofty position in the table right now.

I've always loved the Ginge. Never understood why we sold him to Villa.

I've always said that if we'd sold Upson and kept Collins that season then we wouldnt have been relegated

He seemed slimmer tonight or was it the shaved head.

Good game very dominant .... more of a leader than Reid..

Re: Collins
Probably my second favourite defender ever. I'm convinced he headed his way out of the womb, and lives to head the ball and fling his body in the way of anything that might hurt.

Re: Collins
Defensively outstanding. Still tries passes that he's not good enough to play. When he's given the ball at the back I'd rather he gave it to the keeper or hoofed it long as otherwise he has a tendency to pass to the opposition.

That French bloke Mountie / Moonie / Moanie destroyed Palace and looked very dangerous.
I don't think he touched the ball tonight
