Obiang injured
Mark Noble is on standby to take over from Pedro Obiang in the Irons midfield on Saturday.

Obiang is understood to have pulled a muscle in the game against West Brom and was not even on the bench for the game against Bolton Wanderers last night.

And ClaretandHugh learned today that the injury – whilst not serious – may be sufficient to keep him out of the lunchtime clash with Spurs this weekend.

Noble has his first run out against Bolton last night since taking a knock himself and looked in decent nick in the Caraboa Cup clash at the London Stadium.

But Obiang’s absence is a blow and the second to hit the Irons following the ankle ligament injury problem suffered by James Collins.

However, we were assured that this is a small injury and that the midfielder is expected back for the game against Swansea City at home next Saturday.

Russ

As long as Bilic is here Noble could score a couple of own goals and still be chosen in the starting line up.

Yet players like Rice get hooked.

I love Nobes but he should be on the bench now. Will be a shame to see people turning on him, which with continued starts I can see happening.

So yet again Bilic escapes having to make a call on Noble. How fucking convenient. Let's face it, we will never have a fully fit squad.

I would be up for this one. We all would. That's just the problem though as it doesn't mean we'd be any fucking good.

To be fair this is the perfect fixture for Noble to slam the doubters. Trouble is, if he has a mare it could be the end of his run in the team bar injuries.

May not be a bad thing. I love the guy but his limits as a player are now shockingly laid to bare as age creeps up and the game just gets quicker and quicker.

No one question's Noble's commitment. It's his legs that are the problem.

It's a London derby and Noble will be up for it. He certainly was when we beat them 1-0 in May.

Let's play Mark Noble sweepstake... put numbers from 10 to 100 in a bag and draw them out. Then count how many times he needlessly slows plays down, gets caught in possession or gives the ball away.

Hmmm...Has AC dyed his ponytail a bit blonde so it's easier to spot from 70 yards away...?!

Obiang has been rubbish, his passing has been awful, shame the lad is injured though.

Re: Obiang injured
Our midfielders don't get the ball often anyway. We usually just kick it as hard as we can at Carrolls ponytail.

big blow....cant see Kouyate and Nobes stopping Dembele, Dier and Alli at all

Then when we get the ball those two will not use it well at all

To be fair, Spurs is exactly the type of fixture that Noble will play a blinder.

I would play Rice as DM ahead of Noble but obviously Slav won't.
