Billy Bonds - Hall Of Fame
Congratulations to Bill who will be inducted into the FA's Hall Of Fame at a ceremony in Manchester tonight. Long overdue.

An even better man than he is a hero.

If a statue of Billy Bonds is ever made they will need two tons of cement just for his balls.

Congratulations to one of the Legends of West ham utd, he is arguably the greatest one of all, the honour is well deserved.

Can remember the great man being injured for quite a while with a poisoned big toe he asked the medical team to amputate it so he could get back to playing quicker.
Proper hard man Geoff Pikes and Patsy Hollands minder.
Real nice bloke and still looks as fit as fuck.

Private Dancer on a wind up? He was a fantastic player at RB, CB & midfield! He would be in 90%+ of anyone over 50's all time WH team!

All for people having opinions etc.

But anyone who thinks Billy Bonds wasn't a great player is a fucking retard.

I don't recall him being a great passer to be honest. Anyway, a legend a hero for us, even if he was a bit of a misery guts.

PD

His "ability" encompasses his whole game. Passing, tackling etc etc. Of course Billy Bonds was a great player and I have been fortunate to talk to many ex-players over the years (from various clubs) who all say the same.

To prove a point, the FA have just inducted them into their Hall Of Fame.

With regards missing out on England there are many who think he should have been capped many times (even skippered the team) but his "style" wasn't to everyone's taste.

''If there is anyone who seriously doubts Bonzo's ability as a player then they are clearly either too young to know or couldn't have seen West Ham that often (if at all) during Bill's playing day''

Doubting his ability? That is very vague and who is doubting it anway? The question here I would have thought, is how good actually was he?

If he was THAT good, he would have played many times for England, just pointless arguing that. He was good for sure, but was never a great player.

790 odd games or whatever it was and he hardly had a bad game.

Re: Billy Bonds - Hall Of Fame
Plenty of players "got stuck in", but there was a fuck of a lot more to Billy than that.

Greenwood bought him, for a start, and Ron wasn't a great fan of players who were JUST hard men.

I was good, but anyone who saw Billy play and don't love him ain't West Ham

Re: Billy Bonds - Hall Of Fame
Pretty sure that if I'd seen all of Hurst and Moore's West Ham careers, instead of roughly the last third, they would have ranked above Brooking and Bonds.

But, from what I actually saw, it's Brooking, then Bonds. Honourable mention for Devonshire.

And if only McAvennie had been a stayer (in both senses of the word)...
