First game at Stratford Saturday - travelling from Bristol
Looks like I'll be making my first trip to our glorious new next level home on Saturday...

I'm coming from Bristol - how long, on match day, will it take to get from Victoria to Stratford? And are they still asking to get there an hour early to check through all the man bags???

Gavvy, couldn't you have left when we were only one down?

Lily - spot on. The 1-0 vs Spurs last season, it was absolutely buzzing up there and for about half an hour after the final whistle.

At least we quietened them down for about 15-20 minutes until the final whistle, can't stand them.

OGS

What makes it a decent bit of the inferior upper tier is the proximity of the away fans. (You're closer to them up there than in 114). Always the best and worst place to be. Had to suck it up this time, but those cunts went quiet for the last few minutes. If only one of those late efforts flew in, then there wouldn't have been a better place to be in the ground.

217 is decent value, given the Band 5 prices. We have our STs there and it's normally a decent atmosphere, especially against the livelier away fanbases.

The more I go, the more I like it, lower tier helps a lot. I was in the upper this time, in 217, not far from the yids , which was nice.

The main reason I like it is because, despite some tourists, most people there are still proper West Ham......it's still us.

That's my main gripe, I just don't feel near enough to feel 'part' of it. I can see the match ok but it just feels too remote.

One thing I didn't get was the hairs in the back of your neck feel I got every time at the Boleyn and feeling like the players were in touching distance

It does sadden me to think my boy will never experience that

Haha - I'm glad you liked it mate, unfortunately I do think it's a shithole I was gutted when I went first time as I really wanted to like it. I was interested because it was your first impression.

Re: First game at Stratford Saturday - travelling from Bristol
Do you know what, i did. My mate had us tickets in a good spot sonthe view was general, but I can understand how, vein further back, it might be shocking. But the sheer size of it is unbelievable

I think it just suffers from its size - just amplifies whatever is going on. So in games where the atmosphere was quiet at the
Boleyn, you could still hear people shouting things out a few banks over. Here you can't. So if the team isn't performing or things are going shut, it's awful

Today had a bit of both - good atmosphere to begin with, but how many sets of fans would generate a good atmosphere 3-0 down at home after your manager has fucked up so badly after a good start?

Its never going tonne the Boleyn, but it's not the shit heap some on here would have you believe. And the irons beer is alright!

Yeh, it's funny how the 'engineering works' are supposedly going on between LIVERPOOL ST and STRATFORD!

Re: First game at Stratford Saturday - travelling from Bristol
Are they saying PML is closed just to us as that's the way they want the away fans to go in and they want to keep us all separated, or is it genuinely closed?

Just curious.
