Michail Antonio injury Monday Update
We do have a knack of losing our best players don't we?

Bilic on the official site reckons it was a groin injury and seemed to imply it wasn't a BIG pull.
At least he didn't say 'back after the international break'
I have no confidence in our forecasting the seriousness of injuries but we can't have too long without him and Lanzini.

C&H

Michail Antonio will be available for the game against Burnley immediately after the international break.

The Hammer of the Year limped off after 28 minutes against Spurs to be replaced by Andy Carroll – an injury which most agreed changed the game.

Early fears that Antonio had suffered a hamstring injury were shown to be unfounded after the game and Claretandhugh was told this morning that the issue is with his groin.

But we were told: “He should be okay after seven days and available for the game at Turf Moor. It’s a big relief as obviously it was worrying.”

Antonio had been feeling the issue during the week but declared himself fit before the match and although he was not at his absolute best, the team was coping admirably and holding a great shape until he was forced off.

However, it now appears that the injury was minor and that the main man will be back to terrorise the Clarets

Spot on - sakho, ayew, even Arthur or byram would have been better and we could have kept our shape

Probably a good thing we didn’t sign Carvalho as he’d probably be INJURED by now anyway. Can’t stand our luck.

Him & Lanzini have become injury prone.
No surprise though is it with our appalling record of keeping players fit.

The injury didn't change the game, who he brought on changed the game.

A tiny slice of good news, if he really is fully fit for Burnley.

Re: Michail Antonio injury
He blatantly wasn't fit to start with.

ALL of our attacks were targeted down the left to arnie for that opening spell, I don't really remember Antonio doing much at all apart from the sprint and cross that injured him.

I can't imagine we targeted aurier over Davies, although he was getting forward more and leaving space to exploit whilst Antonio wasn't given much room

With the sorts of injuries Antonio gets (which basically all come from sprinting) if he's not right or can feel a twinge he should t be risked (although his presence alone kept sours' defensive line well back)

you mean Haksabamavic?

Absolutely he looked good against an admittedly weak Bolton side so give him a go

Apparently he passed a late fitness test on Saturday. Good to see Gary Lewin's new fitness regime is making a difference.

". Remember when we had those two and Payer clicking together?"

I remember that, and Bilic responding by putting him in defence.

I said to my boy that it looked like he was blowing out of his arse which I couldn't understand, as he is usually fit as a fiddle, then he sat down waiting for treatment and you could here the whole stadium groan.

Losing him fucked us so badly. Lanzini and Antonio means we are missing our two most dangerous players. Remember when we had those two and Payer clicking together? Fucking far cry from that now.

Totally agree it was the wrong substitution. No wonder Sakho gets pissed off, he knows no matter what he will always be behind Carroll.

If Antonio is out for a period of time, we can use the wingers we replaced Snodgrass and Feghuli with.

Oh I forgot. Sullivan and Gold lied about the one out,one in promise.

If only Ayew was like Antonio...

Antonio makes things happen.

Ayew is, occasionally, in the right place when others make things happen

Had to be Sakho...but it wasn't, and we lost, again.

I would have used Sahko
Needed the pace and energy to stretch them and he went for the lump Carroll.
Who was strolling after 20mins
