ol' Ma n pa in law, had a leaflet through the door, Buy this new chair for a disabled person, and get a new twin seat sofa free. £500 all in.

Against our advice, they had a salesman round today.

They signed papers etc.
£6,000+.

Anyone know about this shit, and how we can get them out of it.
The salesman took measurements, and said it was now cast in stone, done the 'I'll have to ring my manager for a special price' bollox

Luckily she paid by cheque, so we had it stopped today.
Then had the account cleared, and started a new one.
Missus rang the salesman on her mum's behalf.
He reckoned it was already started and couldn't be stopped.
Trading Standards informed, but are already aware of this firm.

Saw something like this ages ago on Rip Off Britain

You can get better chairs in house of Fraser

Don't pay a penny and cancel immediately and report them to trading standards, conning the elderly out of their retirement fund should be stuck in stocks for a week

Quite right. The 'signed for' bit is important.

Could try reporting the shoddy outfit to the fraud squad. Hope it's sorted quickly, always a worry.

Re: FFS
A quick call to trading standards to report the company and sales rep will have them backing off plus they have the 14 day period, as mentioned, to change their mind.

So long as they didn't give any bank details for the company to take the money (which will be theft) they should be fine. Get them to write to the company cancelling the order and have it sent special delivery so the company cannot deny receiving it as it will be tracked and signed for.

They have a right to say no up to 2 weeks after but should not have said yes in the first place. Buyer beware.

They have two weeks to cancel by law.
12 months if they they weren't told about the two weeks by the salesman.
