Simon O'Donnell was a part of that 87 mob wasn't he?? I quite liked him... seem to remember Marsh, Boon, Border, McDermott, Steve Waugh, Dean Jones, Tim May as well so not too a shabby mob ... we had John Emburey batting middle order IIRC... !!

I’m not sure the loss of rebels affected Aust Test team much

Aust were a poor Test team after 1984 when Chappell, Chappell, Lillee & Marsh retired and lost poorly to NZ in 85 & England in 87.
By the end of that series they were rebuilding and the 87 World Cup gave them a boost.
Then came England 1989 .... and some ‘decent’ teams

I’d have to look it up but I don’t think any Australian player in S Africa played in the 1987 World Cup winning side.

Sorry Sven, wasn't inferring they did. I was complimenting Australia (spits) on their one day strength at the time, despite the test team being poor, without the SA rebels.

Was quite a young side given a helping hand in the final by Mike Gatting trying to reverse sweep when the game was under control.
Gatting was one who went to S Africa I recall. And made some unfortunate remarks about protestors

Re: ben stokes should he go to australia for the ashes
Seems to me that Cricket Australia has taken action to ban misbehaving players before any other action results.
Unlike the ECB who are clinging to hope that it all blows over

The ECB take action once a conviction/test results are known.,

Ian Botham - banned for taking cannabis.

Jack Burnham, just banned for a year for taking cocaine.

About a dozen England test players were banned for 3 years for touring SA in the early 80's. Unlike the Australian rebel tourists who only got a two year ban, which was dropped after a year or so, after Australia kept losing tests. Did win the 1987 World Cup though.

He is in your best team and you want him in.

Usually I like to see the best players playing but as it’s the Ashes I want him out.
Banned for 2 years until after the next ODI World Cup preferably

In which case Sven, I'm sure you'd prefer he was in our squad. It would work in your favour having such a shit player lining up against you after all.

Stokes in Australia:
England Lions Tour - beaten out of sight by every team including Country Victoria featuring 3 shearers and a kangaroo
Sent home after countless warnings from Andy Flower for being a drunken buffoon
2013/14 Ashes Tour - beaten 5-0 Enough said

QUAKING AT THE PROSPECT OF HIS NEXT TRY

Andrew Symonds - contract ripped up for drinking

After missing one team meeting to go fishing and another team meeting by being drunk, Andrew Symonds was sent to a psychiatrist, for an assessment.

He was diagnosed as "being Australian".

You sound DESPERATE for Stokes to miss the Ashes, Sven son.

Re: ben stokes should he go to australia for the ashes
Warner was banned for two tour matches

He wasn't in the test side due to poor form, so was sent to South Africa with A team, where he made 193 and was immediately called back for the 3rd Test (having also been a massive cunt in South Africa).

Cricket Australia CEO James SUTHERLAND "He can't play cricket until the first Test match starts"

Still, you and Steve Waugh keep making stuff up. Given Stokes' propensity for beating the shit out of loud mouthed imbeciles, I'm not surprised Australia don't want him there - the entire country must be living in fear of his arrival.

Sven Roeder 10:14 Thu Oct 12
Re: ben stokes should he go to australia for the ashes
Warner was removed from the 2013 Ashes tour and sent to S Africa where Australia A were playing.
He was only allowed to return for the 3rd Test

Stokes is still available to play at Brisbane and has missed no Test matches.
Although he is on the verge of an ICC ban I believe if he indulges in another foul mouthed outburst.

Warner should've been banned for life for punching like a female.
