Re: Catalan referendum
Those that voted for Brexit were racists, idiots, and the elderly.

Democracy is such a wonderful thing until it comes to a different conclusion to the "intelligencia"...

"We only have to look at the referendum results to know that. We can see 10% didn't want to leave, and 90% did."

Most anti independence Catalans boycotted the vote.

Catalans have delayed the declaration of independence to bring in a team of mediators to provide discussion that can find a different way forward and reduce the tension...

Re: Catalan referendum
Unfortunately like the confusingly titled Scottish National Party, the Catalonian call for independence isn't in any way organic or honourable, it's actually a communist led revolt.

Spain on the whole isn't quite so willing as the British appear to be to lay down and disappear without a trace or semblance of resistance, just yet.

Hopefully they the politicians will see sense now that 2 banks and other companies have moved out of Catalonia and start actually talking to each other about how to calm things down

Finnish isn't an isolate, but it's in a different family to the Indo-European one of the Germanic, Romance, Slavic languages and a large number of other languages spoken between Europe and Northern India.

Basque is an isolate, with no known relatives in the opinion of most people who study this sort of thing properly (unlike me)

Etruscan's another one

Well, I've just Wikied and apparently it's related to Karelian, estonian and a couple of other languages that are basically dead.

Basque is unrelated to any other language (again Wiki).
