Trev's probably in the top ten percent of academically qualified footballers, but he's not even the top among West Ham players - remember, Iain Dowie's a rocket scientist.

Got more qualifications than any other footballer didn't he?!
Wonderful player and a great partnership with Bonzo as well. Linked up well with Keegan with England too, can always remember the ball sticking in the stanchion of the goal.

Everyone's terrified of his Finnish Mafia connections through his wife, Joe.
Say a bad word, and you'll be saunaed to death

Out of all the footballers that have come and gone over the years he is the only one that I haven't heard a bad word said about him.
By anyone.

That should read "My first memory of him playing was..."
My first memory of him was coaching my primary school a few years earlier.

Chrisel, he didn't naturally fit into a 4-4-2? His role was a free role to go wherever to cause maximum damage. He was simply the playmaker who had a minder in Billy Bonds and a work horse in Geoff Pike. Add into the mix Alan Devonshire and hey presto. He was a sublime, majestic, skillful intelligent footballer and he played his whole career with us.

Re: Happy Birthday Sir Trevor Brooking

My first memory of him was a youngster breaking into the team getting booed for a pass out wide which found no-one, and two old blokes near me, wiser than the average fan, saying that it was the winger's fault for lack of movement into the space.
I like to think the winger was Redknapp, but I'm not 100% sure

I saw Sir Trev from his debut to his finale, and there's never been a player in C&B who's given me more pleasure.
Happy Birthday Gino.

Great passer of the ball, I loved seeing him split defenses apart with a single well calculated pass. We miss a player like that right now.

Chrisel
:-)
I'd love to have seen him in the current team - and in any WHU team. Not sure about him on the wing. His natural position was always central, but he did often cut in from a side. I guess he'd have a Lanzini-type role with licence to float.
