Couple of decent local bands been listening a bit to...my daughter is massively into a band called 'Nothing but thieves'... cracking single called Amsterdam they brought out a few months back... and a new mob started up a few months back been getting rave reviews round here (including the management of the Who saying they are the best young band they have seen in yonks)... Doojip... seen load of their stuff on FB and YT hopefully will catch them live over next couple of months...

Oh yeah and I heard the new Wolf Alice record yesterday. Talk about a severe case of emperor's new clothes. Sounded like all the shit bits of 90s indie rolled into one.

The new QOTSA album is shit. Should have jacked it in after Era Vulgaris.

Sorry Joe, there is a thriving music scene at club level, you've been working with Beyonce too long!

There are a few bands that mix it up a bit, but yeah I get your point.

Re: Where's MDE's new music/band thread of 2017/18
Quite glad I never made it with a band if that is the case. All the ones I played in mixed it up and chucked in the odd stupid, barely rehearsed new one or cover from time to time.
Sounds more like a machine than a band

Re: Where's MDE's new music/band thread of 2017/18
Live music is shit , every show is exactly the same , the running order never changes and the free stuff is getting less and less.

After ten years touring I'm qualified to say this.

O2 Shepherd's Bush Empire, London, UK

Susanne Sundfør

Amazing young Norwegian woman.

She played here a xouple of weeks ago and it was one of the best gigs I've ever experienced. The imagery was powerful enough to impress with no sound at all, and the music was powerful enough to come across with the front curtains closed. The two put together makes this show something truly special.

Get on it.

Don't know how you have energy for that lot but I an old git.
Seen Sunn and Death and Vanilla in the last few weeks and they are both brilliant live in very different ways.
If you into odd prog check out the new Major Parkinson album, dark, weird and brilliant.
The Dead Cross album is pretty damn good too.
Would love to see the Melvins, have read a rumour that Fantomas might do another albums next year

I saw Future Islands last night. Lead singer is nuts, but a great frontman.

There are two versions of The Beat these days. One with Dave and one with Rankin' Roger. I know what I prefer.
