Blimey. Wish I could dance like these parrots. I'd have doubtless attracted a better class of female.

I’ll be honest I’d rather listen to a parrot sqwacking `GIVE ME A FUCKING CRACKER YOU FUCKING SAP’ for a full hour than read one of Sir Alf’s war and peace postzzzzzzzzzz on here…

I thought this might be about that old soak Hugh who runs the Claret and Hugh site. He's Gold's parrot isn't he? ;-)

Thank you. He's 5 in December so still quite young. I have two budgies as well. I love the little guys as much as the parrot.

I'd recommend a parent reared youngster rather than hand reared that are imprinted on humans. They can become clingy and screech for attention. My parrot was with his parents until about 14 weeks and had just gone into his own aviary. He was steady and is now as tame and gentle as anything without demanding attention all the time. I've had hand reared parrot and the parent reared Eclectus has a much nicer disposition.

The males are green and it is the females that are the red/purple colours.
They are a beautiful parrot but like all parrots very demanding and it is the same commitment as a dog except a parrot lives much much longer. They have dietary and care needs that makes them different from most parrot species so not usually recommended as a first parrot but like all things if you do your research it's not an issue.
You can buy from breeders, the Parrot Society has a members magazine with for sale ads. Norwich Hammer put me in touch with the breeder of mine, NH had non breeding Eclectus at the time but I am not sure if he still has his birds.

The courtship dance in the wild isn't TO music, but parrots move TO music anyway.

Chesty
Could not open your image but googled the birds out of curiosity
Blimey that is one handsome thing, I am assuming that he is the red and blue variant and the green the female?
Where do you buy such a thing out of interest, and how do you feed /care for it
Stunning creature

Birds do courtship dances in the wild, they don't need a disco to dance. They will also mimic humans they see bobbing the heads and dancing to music. My parrot can say Come on You Irons! He's an Eclectus parrot.

Geoff - good point but explains why the feathered fuckers dance
Likely a dab hand at benefit fraud, raping simians and sitting on their arse all day
Don't wind him up mind about not being able to swim, wield a good machette do those parrots

Cats do, usually when they're in pain.
I like opera overtures, though. Once you get to know them, they are a signal to look for the off button.

I've never seen them do it spontaneously.
Perhaps its their judgment on my taste in music.
