Qatar World Cup
I see there's a few articles today about the construction projects are under threat due to Qatar's neighbours closing their borders.

Beginning to thing at won't happen, what would happen in that case? cancelled or moved? Can't believe there hasn't been a bigger uproar over the whole thing

Not disputing that all Ronaldo Fifa must have known summertime daytime working hours law in Qatar, work finish 11-30am resume15-30pm. Even following that you can end up in a hospital with dehydration and worse case heat stroke. Air con stadium no problem for players.Big problem outside for supporters especially on the piss

Platini & 2022 .....

"Platini has acknowledged he changed his intended vote for the 2022 World Cup host from the US to Qatar following a lunch at the Élysée Palace with the president of France, Nicolas Sarkozy, and the current Emir of Qatar, Tamim al-Thani. Platini has indicated it was clear Sarkozy, whose government was seeking extensive trade deals with Qatar, wanted him to vote for the Gulf state but has always insisted he did not do so because of that pressure."

Re: Qatar World Cup
Wouldn’t surprise me if Platini was a big factor and big reason we failed to get the 2018 and 22 finals, he seems to have a dislike of anything English and I doubt he would have been lobbying very hard for us to get it rather than Russia or Qatar, not to mention the brown paper bags he may have been receiving (or handing out!), thank fuck he’s been booted out.

I think the FA have accepted that there will be no English World Cup for the foreseeable future.

Agreed. Next world cup in England 2066. The FA will be able to use the 100th anniversary etc as campaigning tool.

The behaviour of Russian fans in Marseille at Euro2016?

There is no good reason for it not to be in Russia.

Re: Qatar World Cup
It’s ludicrous that England hasn’t had another World Cup since 1966.
2018 & 2022 should have gone to England and Australia and we all know why we have ended up in Russia & Qatar.

I think the FA have accepted that there will be no English World Cup for the foreseeable future.

They’ll never give it to England even though we’d host the best one for years.

Firstly, the point being made was that it should be moved to somewhere that could stage a proper World Cup at the time of year that tournaments are traditionally held.

Secondly, I think "they moved it in the first place" in order to mitigate the utterly ludicrous (not to mention CORRUPT) decision to award it to Qatar at all.

Capiche?

No problem Kronic.

Sydney. As you rightly say 2018 is rightly under scrutiny. Also, FIFA admitted in 2016 that certain members had been receiving bribes for a number of years including South Africa for 2010 and candidate Morocco in 1998. Now you could argue there was not
so much media coverage prior to the event but that could just be down to the rise in media/social media and internet in recent years but it was being looked at, at the time.

"I think you need to check your history"

Enlighten me Steven?

Columbia lost it because the infrastructure wouldn't be ready in time, Russia perhaps? which others..........

Qatar on the other hand, amongst other things promised as part of there bid to have air conditioned stadiums, then after they win the bid say they cant deliver on that promise, FIFA seemed to go all out to not even consider moving the finals elsewhere, in fact they moved the tournament instead!

Re: Qatar World Cup
Kronic? Are you really finding it that hard to understand my point? Shall I try again? I was discussing with Sydney that I disagree with his statement that there has been no Irregularities or corruption at any other World Cup apart from the forthcoming tournament in Qatar. If you think this is stating the obvious, then I agree, however that was the discussion.

You tried to jump in and prove me wrong. However, you picked up on something that was never mentioned or disputed.

Carry on.
