Is Jack Wilshere worth the risk?
With more media reports today suggesting that Jack Wilshere wants to leave Arsenal is it worth us considering a move for the clearly talented but fragile midfielder?

We do have a habit of buying broken players and losing out and perhaps we should leave him well alone and consider it a lesson learned. However; the lad has talent and opens up defenses and we are somewhat bereft of players that do that (outside of Lanzini). If what we're led to believe he is a West Ham fan and we do love our own.

I'd like to give him a chance (initial 2 year contract perhaps) and see what happens.

Cunt me off at your leisure

Re: Is Jack Wilshere worth the risk?
He is a very good footballer, if fit he'd certainly improve our midfield.. In fact he's good enough for all the bid clubs & I was highly surprised Southgate didn't pick him as going on how devoid of ideas & forward passes England's midfield was the other night he would certainly be an upgrade on Henderson & co.

All the negatives have already been pointed out, but could their be a possibility his overcome his injury problems?

If we don't sign him you just know he will go to Palace or Everton and will be a revelation"

And if we do you just know he will get an injury in pre-season that rules him out until January, so it's lose lose.

£100k a week with no sign on fee is £15m over 3 years, so not that bad I suppose....

But he wasn't fit "throughout" either of those seasons was he?

That's why I said throughout the season.

Re: Is Jack Wilshere worth the risk?
In fact, I revise my last post.

Wilshire was seriously injured this time last year.

He was out for over 4 months, they just happened to be mostly in the close season. He did not start the until the Europa League in late September and did not play in the league until October.

Well it’s obvious to me what I wrote and it’s obvious that as usual you cannot countenance a different opinion to yours. Like I say we are not in a situation of having a bottomless pit of money to finance a squad but that does not seem to come into the equation for some people.

It’s all about bang for your buck and our owners have not been all that good at it.

I think it's fairly obvious what you wrote, you squirming weasel.

ED, you stil don’t get it do you. Everyone has a right to your opinion but you complain when their opinion is different. Any opinion is valid but how many, risk of injury lay off, players can a squad sustain especially as we already have at least two on our books is the point I’m making.

Oh and have you ever thought about some self reflection? Don’t do it for what it’s worth because we’d miss your idiocy if you curbed it.

Let's be clear, he was fittER the last two seasons.

He still missed the end of his Bournemouth time and the beginning of last season with a fracture. He had minor injuries and was used quit sparingly in the league by Arsenal.

He has been photographed wearing a West Ham shirt as a kid, reportedly West Ham, but then again they've all stood at the NB bar at some point.

Re: Is Jack Wilshere worth the risk?
Comma, if you want to get technical about it, it is partly my money, because I’ve stuck enough into the club over the years, and if it’s ok by you, I will have an opinion on how I think it should be spent. Not that the opinion will have any affect.

And for the record, the owners are not spending any of their own money, in fact they’re earning out of the club, so have some of that you windbag.

Re: Is Jack Wilshere worth the risk?
The bloke is naturally going to evoke different opinions given his record. However, the primary reason we conceded so many goals last year in my opinion was not so much our defence as our midfield. We couldn't keep the ball for more than a few passes and when we gave up possession we were too lacking in energy and pace to get it back. We got pissed on by some really average teams primarily because of that.

Even his critics would hopefully concede that Wilshere is a decent footballer.

"I would welcome a fit and motivated Wilshere"

He's been fit throughout the last 2 seasons, and is motivated to play football seeing as he's leaving Arsenal.
