Is Jack Wilshere worth the risk?
With more media reports today suggesting that Jack Wilshere wants to leave Arsenal is it worth us considering a move for the clearly talented but fragile midfielder?

We do have a habit of buying broken players and losing out and perhaps we should leave him well alone and consider it a lesson learned. However; the lad has talent and opens up defenses and we are somewhat bereft of players that do that (outside of Lanzini). If what we're led to believe he is a West Ham fan and we do love our own.

I'd like to give him a chance (initial 2 year contract perhaps) and see what happens.

Cunt me off at your leisure

As long as we get Anderson/AN Other AND Seri/Sturaro as well, sounds good to me.

Heard from somebody very very close to Wilshere he’s all but signed for a London club but wouldn’t let on which one

Re: Is Jack Wilshere worth the risk?
I’d have him for the right deal

He shouldn’t be the sole player signed in centre midfield though

Re: Is Jack Wilshere worth the risk?
One piece of history on this, if you want to look at just appearances.

(The short of it is that he has made over 67 appearance in 2 seasons before (2012/13 - 2013/14) and then broke down again. Whether your gut says he on the road to recovery or not, history does not support that.)

Jack Wilshire was a pretty regular player in 2010/11 - 53 appearances

However, he missed the entire 2011/12 season - 0

The next two seasons made 36 (2012/13) and 48 (2013/14) appearances - a total of 82

However, the next season those numbers dropped (28) and the season after (2015/16) he missed almost the entire year (9 appearances, 3 with his club)

That bring us to the 67 appearances he made in the last two years. Not a necessarily a hopeful indication if taken in context.

If we can sell that donkey Obiang for 15mill and get Wilshere on a free it’s an absolute no brainer

Very rare I agree with you twice on the same thread Eerie, but you are talking sense when it comes to Wilshire.

Absolute no brainier. When players of his quality are available on a free and most importantly he wants to come, you do all you can to get him.

That's the most important thing for me with this, he's such a high quality player that it's worth the risk given his injury record has been improving. He clearly had more issues when younger, which tied in with his life outside of football, but that's changed massively, and it's worth the risk because he is top class.

You know players don't decide to be injured?

Re: Is Jack Wilshere worth the risk?
I hadn’t really watched the lad a great deal and only really saw the player at a game last season where he played against Bournemouth at Dean Court. He was that day so much better than any other player on the pitch it was embarrassing. If we can get him in on a pay as you play (stay fit) basis then it’s a no brainier for me.

Re: Is Jack Wilshere worth the risk?
on a pay as he plays deal with his fitness decided by us not him. Then he incentivised to stay as healthy as he can.

And whilst we’re at it out fkn Carroll on the same deal.

Re: Is Jack Wilshere worth the risk?
Eerie, they either didn’t play him because of ability or availability. Consider how much they didn’t play him, how good he is and his injury record, I’d say they didn’t play him because of availability. You’re right though, I could be wrong, maybe they thought he couldn’t improve their shit team even though he was at peak fitness.

Re: Is Jack Wilshere worth the risk?
It would be madness to sign him on a high basic wage - would be Andy Carroll all over again. You give him an average basic wage and a high appearance bonus to cover ourselves. I doubt he'd go for that given the amount he wanted from Arsenal.

I reckon he'll end up going to Turkey or China who may pay him the money.

3 million quid to sign on and 100k a week according to those pretending to know.

I’m in at that.

I said do you think it’s possible. The answer is yes. In fact, it’s likely, not just possible.
