Is Jack Wilshere worth the risk?
With more media reports today suggesting that Jack Wilshere wants to leave Arsenal is it worth us considering a move for the clearly talented but fragile midfielder?

We do have a habit of buying broken players and losing out and perhaps we should leave him well alone and consider it a lesson learned. However; the lad has talent and opens up defenses and we are somewhat bereft of players that do that (outside of Lanzini). If what we're led to believe he is a West Ham fan and we do love our own.

I'd like to give him a chance (initial 2 year contract perhaps) and see what happens.

Cunt me off at your leisure

Re: Is Jack Wilshere worth the risk?
No way.

His talent does not compensate for his injury record and his attitude.

Of all clubs we should know better than taking a punt on someone with such a horrific injury record.

It shouldn't even be up for debate.

If he does come in we might as well sign Danny Ings from Liverpool too.

Re: Is Jack Wilshere worth the risk?
If the internet rumours have any truth in them, i'd take a punt (loan deal)...there's not many players (English) that have the ability to see a pass and change a game, appreciate he has a chavvy attitude but he despises our friends from North London...at least one thing in common..!!

For his injury record alone, this has to be a no from me.

Re: Is Jack Wilshere worth the risk?
The indications are that Wilshere won't be worth it. We'd all love the Wilshere of a few years ago but the last season Wilshere couldn't hold down a place at Bournemouth and will always have injury problems. HTH

This is one we can't win with,if he comes nailed on he never plays, if he goes elsewhere he'll no doubt be a revelation..

I'd take him though.

If he wants bring him in paid for games, goals and assists, not for being injured or on the bench.
If he wants big money forget him.

Yeah bring him in, make him Captain and he can have half time fag breaks with Slav to talk tactics.

Re: Is Jack Wilshere worth the risk?
No brainier if you could keep him fit. Perfect replacement for Noble but can't see it happening myself.
Him an Carroll would become best mates overnight the amount of time they would spend together in the treatment room with the games they would miss.

Re: Is Jack Wilshere worth the risk?
He'd instantly be our most talented centre midfielder. He plays on the floor. He's creative, has something to prove and supports West Ham. He'll also be well under value because of his fitness. Taking away the finances, if he is fit, available & wants to come then for me, it's a no-brainer.

Re: Is Jack Wilshere worth the risk?
Lee,

I don't think so. With this, the onus, would be on him to look after himself in order to stay fit, the sticking point would be when he's not picked due to performance and others playing better in his position.

He's too much of a risk for a large transfer fee then wages on top, it'll be Andy Carroll MkII, stuck with a crock on stupid wages.

Rivs - Has there ever been a top flight footballer that's been on a pay as you play deal?

Re: Is Jack Wilshere worth the risk?
Who knows, depends what his motivation is and whether he wants to play regularly(Which he wont do at Arsenal), if not I'd have no interest as he's likely to break down at some point.

If he can keep that up for at least 66% of the season, it will be worth giving him a contract of some sort.
