Is Jack Wilshere worth the risk?
With more media reports today suggesting that Jack Wilshere wants to leave Arsenal is it worth us considering a move for the clearly talented but fragile midfielder?

We do have a habit of buying broken players and losing out and perhaps we should leave him well alone and consider it a lesson learned. However; the lad has talent and opens up defenses and we are somewhat bereft of players that do that (outside of Lanzini). If what we're led to believe he is a West Ham fan and we do love our own.

I'd like to give him a chance (initial 2 year contract perhaps) and see what happens.

Cunt me off at your leisure

You'll all be moaning when he's occupying the other injury table next to Carroll, bleating on that we are paying him £xxx per week and plays one game and is out for 6.

Re: Is Jack Wilshere worth the risk?
I think he has grown up in the last few years.

He clearly has ability, and there is always the risk factor around injuries.

It has to come down the old question - will he improve the squad and be better than what we already have / provide value for his wages.

If I had to guess - I'd say, yes - I think he would be a risk worth taking, on a 2 year deal.

yes he is worth the risk and a 2 year deal like you say seems sensible.

If a good deal can be done why not?

Re: Is Jack Wilshere worth the risk?
No. He’s shit. And he’s not a patch on the club legend that’s mark cut-me-and-I-bleed claret and blue Noble. After all the loyalty Noble has shown at this club I just can’t believe some of the shit comments he gets on this site.

RB I would guess if he isn’t going to sign for the goon Bournemouth probably would be in for him but we are a much bigger club and Wilshere and all his family are West Ham I can’t imagine many players wanting to sign for Bournemouth over us let alone somebody bought up supporting the club

How do you know that Eddie Howe is not trying to sign him?

Re: Is Jack Wilshere worth the risk?
They are bank rolled by a Russian Billionaire who is more than happy to invest in the squad. Plus they are getting roughly the same amount of Sky money we are. Fuck all to do with cash.

Re: Is Jack Wilshere worth the risk?
Probably can’t afford his wages shorty.

And if so. Why ain’t the all seeing. All knowing Eddie Howe snapping him up.?

Did this joker pull up any trees while he was on loan at Bournemouth.?

Re: Is Jack Wilshere worth the risk?
It’s a no brainer. Good player and a good record, apart from two seasons: 15/16 and 16/17. Had a decent run last season and is getting back to his best. Also a firm hammer, who wants to come to us. Plenty of years left in him too.

If the money is favourable, then GET HIM IN.

We still need more midfielders, but he's plenty good enough.

Re: Is Jack Wilshere worth the risk?
On the plus side Wilshere would be an upgrade on Noble but will miss enough games through injury to give Nobes enough appearances to keep him happy.

of course he's worth the risk, assuming he's given a short term contract

I think the clear difference between the 2 is Wilshire is desperate to stay fit, and is doing all he can.

Sorry but it looked like Carroll was improving as well.

He made 29 appearances for Newcastle and Liverpool two seasons before he came but then 47 in his only full season with Liverpool, with no significant time out for injuries.

Just something to keep in mind.

I would like Wilshere but if I am honest they are the same reasons I wanted Carroll. English, edge of the national team, coming into what should have been his best years.

And every season his injury record gets worse.

Wilshere's has improved.

People are forgetting how poor our CM is. it was the worst in the league last year and Wilshere is twice the player of any other CM we have. If you think we can get better than Wilshere then you wont be happy come the end of this transfer window.

If you want to compare like for like:

Carroll played in 76 games in the two seasons before we loaned him first time.
