Parents only have themselves to blame. Naughty parents *tut* go to the naughty step.

Re: New rules for under 12s football
I saw this the other day.

In 5 years junior football will be a non contact sport and that includes heading footballs played in a sterile environment where only the referees whistle will be heard.

Absolute fucking joke.

Re: New rules for under 12s football
NS I agree with that it's nonsense we would spend 20 mins of every training session running laps of the field or doing shuttle runs, not enjoyable and not improving anything but fitness. We put a huge emphasis on size in this country as well I was told at 14 I was too small at 16 I was 6"2, I since bumped into the giant kids in that team and they were nearly all bordering on midgets. Now maybe that was there way of saying your not good enough but I saw it a lot of this when I was a kid. Things do need to change I get your point on slide tackling and it needs to be part of the game but I have no problem with it if it's taught in stages. Other than Rio the big footballing nations in Europe have been producing technically superior defenders than us, who can slide tackle šŸ˜€so it works.

Re: New rules for under 12s football
Sold there is a big difference between 'tackles' and 'slide tackles'.

think of the best sides on the planet right now, how many of their players do you see throwing themselves into sliding tackles?

Anyone who voted labour must love these new rules

`Technically though they were light years ahead of us`

Yeah I think that's more to do with youth coach's putting a massive emphasis on kids fitness... yeah 2 laps of the field lads ... go on... if you are not fit at 10,11,12 years old then you never will be... give the kids a ball and let them play... and that INCLUDES tackles

Re: New rules for under 12s football
Oh come on... tese are kids... there are going to be times no matter what even if they are the fucking Kaiser that they are going to be out of position and that a last ditch goal saving tackle is needed... what do you expect them to do ?? Just let the forward waltz in and score?? laughable...

Re: New rules for under 12s football
all this shit about 'equal ability' teams really winds me up. what's wrong with competition and being better by merit. its like football communism. take one player off if you go four behind, retreat to the halfway line if the keeper picks the ball up, don't coach the team from the sideline, don't tackle, parents/spectators don't say a fucking thing and stand there in silence but do occasionally clap, share sub's if you have a bigger squad. FUCK OFF

Re: New rules for under 12s football
i'm not saying slide tackles should be outlawed but they are usually a sign of someone making a mistake or being caught out of position.

So no I didnā€™t say tackling should be outlawed. But our coaches place to high a regard on it. Defending is much more about positioning, using your body and pressure on the ball.

Re: New rules for under 12s football
NS it still will be part of the game but taught after the age of 12, this has been going on for years in Europe. I played in a tournament in Rotterdam when I was 13 (26 years ago) and we were moved 2 years up in age group as the kids we were playing against from across Europe had only just started to learn how to head and slide tackle. Technically though they were light years ahead of us. I can't believe it has taken this long for the penny to drop over here to be honest.

Re: New rules for under 12s football
Behave Goose... honestly... tackling has and always has been a part of Football... do you honestly reckon if we OUTLAW it in this country we are gonna win the World Cup?? BWHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

goose 12:09 Thu Oct 19
Re: New rules for under 12s football
Sold most of what you are talking about is 80's football, watch it back - its shit! granted the pitches were awful but technically the game has moved on a huge amount.

Re: New rules for under 12s football
You know what Gooseā€¦. I donā€™t really give a fuckā€¦ if the game is going to change to basically a non contact cannot touch a forward player mentality then for me the game is deadā€¦ fuck them allā€¦ and fuck the national team

Northern Sold 12:03 Thu Oct 19
Re: New rules for under 12s football
Sometimes a cracking last ditch thumping tackle is as good as a goalā€¦ it gets the crowd revved upā€¦ it gets everyone on their feet baying for bloodā€¦ fuck me one of my memories of the Bishā€™ is clattering Vinnie Jones in a 50/50 and coming out the othersideā€¦ Bonzo, Mooro, Lampard, Stewart, Dicksy, Alvin would not have been half the players they were without SLIDING tacklesā€¦ honestlyā€¦ ruining the gameā€¦ absolutely ruining the game

goose 12:01 Thu Oct 19
Re: New rules for under 12s football
which is exactly the attitude that has seen our national team stagnate over the past 20 years.
the game has changed but we havent.

'Tackling is not really a quality, it's more something you are forced to resort to when you don't have the ball,'

Tell that to Bobby Moore.... oh and Alonso can go and fuck himself....

Xabi Alonso had it right:
