Re: Reece Oxford
Agreed Eggbert but what's the point leaving him in Germany if he isn't playing?

Send him to Bristol Rovers and see if he can get a game there. I understand they need some better defenders...

Re: Reece Oxford

unlikley we'd play both him and Rice and Rice seems to be ahead of him now

Re: Reece Oxford
He is no more 'golden boy' than Bilic is 'super slav'.

Why do football personnel get such undeserved attention?

Fuck no defense then

Re: Reece Oxford
I believe we can recall him during the winter if he hasn't played enough. I'm sure they are trying to boost his playing time to keep him there but he may well come back as after Bilic gets the sack he might well get more playing time at WH.

I think all those stories are a month old Westham67.

Re: Reece Oxford
Reece Oxford is set to return to West Ham after his season-long loan at Borussia Monchengladbach was cut short.

The 18-year-old, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Championship side Reading, has not featured in the German side’s first team once since joining in June and has been an unused substitute in all six of their Bundesliga games.

Earlier this month Oxford was nominated for Tuttosport’s European Golden Boy award, alongside the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Marcus Rashford, despite not making a top flight appearance in 2017.

Speaking ahead of their Borussia Monchengladbach’s league clash with Hannover 96 this weekend, manager Dieter Hecking made no mention of Oxford leaving, and even spoke of his progression.

West Ham and Spurs youngsters up for European Golden Boy award
“Reece has taken a step forward in the last few weeks,” Hecking told reporters.

“He’s a young, talented centre back and if he gets the chance, he has to make the most of it.”

Reece Oxford is to return to West Ham after cutting short his loan at Borussia Monchengladbach, according to Sky sources.

Oxford joined Gladbach on a season-long loan back in June but is yet to make a first-team appearance.

The centre-half, who can also play in midfield, has been an unused substitute in all six of the club's Bundesliga games - the most recent of which ended in a 6-1 defeat at Borussia Dortmund.

Oxford was the Premier League's second-youngest debutant when he started at Arsenal on the opening weekend of the 2015-16 season.

The 18-year-old signed a long-term contract in December but spent the second half of last season on loan at Reading and has not played for West Ham for more than a year.

Re: Reece Oxford
Who? I don't think of ever been so tired of a WHUFC player who's barely played. At least Savio was funny.

"The Academy Of Football" my arse.

Re: Reece Oxford
They are month old stories and it was reported that WH decided to give it more time iirc. This latest few minutes of playing time suggests they are trying to find a spot for him to keep him there all season. I suspect he will come home soon...

Yes let's all get excited at Reece getting an 89th minute appearance...

Re: Reece Oxford
Wasn’t he an 89th min sub for a forward to protect a 3-1 lead?
Obviously he managed to do that without giving the ball to the opposition like the dozy Antonio

I popped in to the Bavarian Beer Hal at Tower Hil after the Palace match and they had Bundesliga matches on the screen. I noticed that Oxford was playing for Moenchengladbach and was wearing number 3 on his shirt.

Re: Reece Oxford
Having that outstanding game against Arsenal may have been the worst thing for him? He got so much publicity from that one game and he probably did think that he'd already made it and perhaps got carried away with it all?

He's still young enough to learn, work hard and progress and he clearly has the ability. He just needs the attitude and work ethic to go with it.

Re: Reece Oxford
Bad attitude by all accounts.
Friend of mine who's son is a scholar at the club told me a while back how he was late for training had numerous warnings about his behaviour and is the main reason he's been shipped out on loan.

I do not think I will ever forget how well he played almost 21/2 years ago when we opened the season by beating Arsenal. I find it odd he is still messing about with loans and bit parts
